# About me

My father's name is Helgi Ingolfsson, son of Ingolf Grjotvardsson. He is a descendant of Grjotgard Herlaugsson, earl of Hálogaland. My mother is Ása Asgautsdottir, daughter of Asgaut Skaftason, former owner of Steinsnes.

I was born on the farm Steinsnes in Norway five winters prior to the battle of Svolder, where king Olaf Tryggvason was slain. I believe the Christians would call it the year 995 Anno Domini. Since then, Norway has been under danish rule, not that it has had much impact on these parts.

Steinsnes lies in Sparbyggjafylki, a day's journey west of the Trondheimsfjord. To the east rise the mountains of Kjolen, beyond which lies the vast forests of Jamtaland.

I will continue sharing my experiences, but I cannot promise that it will be filled with action. After all, it is a diary. But in these troubling times, with the new religion and all, who's to say?
