I believe the idea of the Llama is to give them to people you know and someone else you don't know from your friend's page. This way you get to see a lot of work you might not otherwise find - hence spreading the love
If you want to give someone a Llama Badge have a look near the top right corner of their page and you will see you have a little picture of a Llama. Below that is a box called give and within that menu is an option to "give a Llama badge".
Its very easy and its an excuse to explore lots of new artists work.
