I'm doing pretty good. Just doing what film work I can get and also trying to start moving as a freelance graphic artist... We'll see how that works out. What are you up to these days? Did you just graduate?

Sounds like fun. What city are you residing in nowadays. I have an internship with KPMG this summer. I still have one year left to graduate.

KPMG, huh? I didn't realize you were in the accounting world. That's really great, we need more artists in there. Keep those sharks out of trouble (as, if I'm remembering correctly, KPMG was in sometime last year for some sort of tax shelter thing, no?)

I'm not an accountant. I just work for an accounting firm. I do the computer side stuff. Its pretty cool. KPMG did do some screwy things with the tax stuff. They are still paying for it.
So NYC is treating you well? Is it expensive living there?

Ah! Well you'll still be a good influence, no doubt. NYC is treating me really well. It is really expensive, but as long as you don't eat and steal all your essentials you're fine. And sleep in subway trains. Which you snuck onto.
::weeps::

Wait, what business? No, haven't found a place in the city yet- I also haven't spoken with the designer for a long time (since last summer) so I don't know if she is needing help...as much as I would like to stay here in NY over the winterbreak, I don't have my car and that makes things very problematic. I'll probably end up heading home to OR and be reduced to working at BurgerKing again...there isn't a lot available at home. I applied par email to a Shutterbug store in Portland- a photoretail/developing place- we'll see where that goes. I just want to have a steady, convenient job that will bring me in some money and keep me out of the house.
How's life hun?

The senior member business. You've probably had that thing in front of your name forever and I've just never noticed it, but... I thought it was worth mentioning. Burger King in OR certainly doesn't sound as exciting as graphic designer in NY, does it? Eh, these things always work out somehow, right? The city will be disappointed, but I'll try to talk it down.
Life is good for me. I'm taking a semester of all academic classes and really enjoying myself. It's a lot less stressful to learn learnable things than it is to be passionate about something all the time. I'm taking a statistics course, and it amazes me how much everything just CLICKS when you do it correctly. There's no clicking in art! You'll never get to that point where your art is just RIGHT, when there's not one thing that you think could be better (or at the very least different). Of course, I miss being frustrated with unclicking things, and it has gotten me to come back to DA a little bit. I'm both looking forward to and dreading getting back into filmmaking. Life would be so much easier if one wasn't compelled to create. But I suspect there would be disastrous long-term effects of such a lifestyle.

Ohh nice! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Major.. I think it's going to be politics or econ and history or european studies or some mix of those, I'm sure it'll change a couple times though, we'll see, have to declare it this week actually heh.
Oh and thanks for the great comments!

Heh. You sounds pretty up in the air for someone that has to decide this week. What year are you? I saw a reference to one of your photos being taken for a class... Am I to assume that you're taking a photography class? Or is it some sort of "sticking glue to people's faces" class?

AbsolutSnowboard In reply to unklefatty [2004-10-19 00:44:51 +0000 UTC]
Haha yeah tell me about it, I've gone through classes in pretty much every area of CAS, so this is at least a little more towards a direction (?) I hope. I'm a sophomore. Haven't taken any photo classes at NYU, that print was for a class in high school, I'd love to take a couple classes here at some point though!

unklefatty In reply to lie-eltae [2004-10-13 02:50:29 +0000 UTC]
Yup, still doing film, graduating in May. And you? Has anything changed in your pursuit of higher education? When are YOU graduating?

lie-eltae In reply to unklefatty [2004-10-13 04:55:05 +0000 UTC]
damn i'm jealous, i should have been graduating in may too... but no hehe
i'm actually at georgia tech now, just started architecture, and since having a masters in it is 'recommended', i'll probably be stuck in school for at least 6 more years. that is if i don't change majors again haha.
so what are your plans for after school is over?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
unklefatty In reply to lie-eltae [2004-10-14 00:53:07 +0000 UTC]
Architecture! How much fun! After school, I'm hanging out here in NYC, working when I can doing whatever I can. Working my way up that ladder, yeah?
