In answer to your question, I do live in China right now. Xi'an, in Shaanxi province, to be precise.
I think there are a few Chinese people on DA, but perhaps not many. I'm not Chinese (actually a U.S. citizen), but I've lived in China for several years now.

You know, you have an interesting medium... is it customary for tattoo artists to practice on pig skin? Is it particularly challenging?
Your lotus design interests me, also. I've been thinking about lotus patterns for a possible tattoo for my friend.

there is a special "fake skin" to practice on. it looks like plastic and is very expensive. pigskin is very similiar to human skin and it is free! but it is a bit stinky
will you show me your lotus design when its finished? I am curious

I've sketched a few different designs, ranging from more symbolic/abstract to realistic. Mostly I'm looking at traditional Chinese and Tibetan images, but haven't really put much time into it.
