As the year draws toward a close, my mind returns to the events that have taken place. A few stand out among the blur: my graduation, my entrance into college, my first car accident, my first graphic design classβmost significantly my struggles with the schoolβs laser printerβand absolutely the first time I met my first love , face to face. He is someone I met on this very art community through sheer, unpredictable chance; and I have loved him more sincerely than I ever thought was possible through online communication.
Thus, I wanted to go out and personally thank each of you for the impact youβve made on my life this year. Each of your comments and deviations has left an impression on my heart that can never be repaid or forgotten. I hope that your holidays are full of festive cheer, good food, and great company!

Hiyo, verra pretti stuffs! I asked Heatherkat where she learned to do that real pretty individual hair strand thingie, and she sent me to you! If you don't mind, how -IS- that accomplished?

If you've got OpenCanvas and a tablet, it's easy easy easy!
First of all, you color the hair as you would normally, with hilights and shading and happyjunk. With the pencil tool, you then simply take the color of the darkest shade and draw manymany pencil lines in the direction of the hair growth. You then do the same with the base hair color and the lightest hilight color, but always keep the pencilly lines in the same general area as their similar color - the shadey lines with the shades, etc etc. Some overlap is fun though!
It's a fun technique, because depending on how many lines you put in you can do hair realistically, or just happily stylized. You can skip any step if you want, really - ie, no shading lines - and it'll give you a slightly different effect. You'll hafta try it out yourself to find which way you like best. Hope that helped! ^^
