That's what I've heard! And from the very limited number of episodes I've seen, the whole dynamic between the two of them is wonderfully subtle. I'd be very interested in trying to emulate that in writing. Plus the whole universe seems like a cool setting.

Uhh, sorry for being late with the reply... So, are you prepared for a fangirlish comment? Sorry in advance.
So, you know, in FMA I really think these two's relationship is one of the most interesting and that really worth looking into. I don't want to spoil the series for you if you still haven't watched it, but I guess you could have already guessed that there is a very deep relationship there, based on strong trust and respect for each other, but what I love about it the most, is how is it expressed. In the whole series, they barely touch, there are only like 4 or 5 times, mostly when one of them is injured and the other one gives a helping hand. Also they don't really talk about anything personal to each other, but they share so many little glances, when they just look to one another for a moment, always being aware, always looking out for each other, and also they both have a strong convinction to help each other in any possible way, and it's pretty obvious that they would die for each other without a moment of hesitation or any regret. Also amazing how in critical moments they can communicate without even words, by only a little gesture or a glance and they can understand each other perfectly, they just know each other so well that they are completely familiar with the other's every little habit or movement... And it's also very lovely how much they can worry about each other when in danger, even though none of them is easy to kill... Awh, I took so long, sorry if I bored you. >< I hope it wasn' spoiler. o.o
