Thanks. That gun metal color is just acrylic paint called Gun Metal Gray, smeared with a little black acrylic paint, with a good coat of sealant over it all. I think I'll do some zombie guns next, so I'll be trying out some effects for blood and brains!

Sometimes I use Krylon spray paint. The metallics, mostly - "foil" metallics, actually. Krylon makes abt 3 kinds of metallic gold, silver, and copper. I like the foil version the best. The acrylics are more like common craft paints. I have used some Testors model paint. The model paint & spray paint adhere best & last longest, I think, but spraying requires taping off parts of a gun & that takes time. Testors can be used with a brush like the acrylics, and brushes give more control & you can do more detail. It all depends on how much time I have to put into a piece & all.
