You're very welcome. I am very intrigued by your technique, I myself do pencil portraits utilizing just graphite pencil, a variety of erasers and blending stumps. Do you have any videos posted for curious minds to watch and ponder?

Thank you Anthony! I just checked out your wonderful gallery. . .love the twin brothers & cousins portrait!!! I'm afraid I don't have any videos [I wouldn't even know where to begin], although there is a video on YouTube showcasing an extraordinary artist by the name of 'Melissa Cooke' [link] demonstrating her powder/brush technique What I do tend to do is give an in-depth explanation for each & every stage of a commission. In fact, I'll be submitting a Journal Entry soon detailing how I use powder/brush so hope that helps somewhat!

Thanks for the reply. I've been doing some research after your last message, I have to say I feel dumb. I never knew about the graphite powder. I do all my work with mostly a 2b pencil and blending. But I think I'm going to pick some up and give it a try, mostly for a more even background on my portraits till I get the hang of it. I am still curious on what you use to get the wonderful "whites" in your drawings. Anyway you could snap a photo and just email it to me? anthony@awilsonportraits.com
On a side note. I appreciate your help in this, I know how it can get sometimes with other asking questions about techniques and process. And especially when it's something you've taken the time to learn and develop on your own time. Sorry if my questions are a bother, just let me know and I'll be more than happy to oblige by shutting up.

You're welcome, Anthony You shouldn't feel 'dumb'. . .it's just powder! If you're going to pick some Graphite powder, might I suggest you also look into purchasing some 'Taklon' or 'Nylon' brushes? These brushes seem to work best with powder - not too soft, not too hard. . .just perfect!!! You'll find some very good deals for different grades of Graphite powder [best to purchase a dark grade] & also Taklon or Nylon brushes. For the White highlights, I use a Derwent White Pastel pencil [Titanium White 720], White Conte pencil [Blanc - White 630] & Koh-I-Noor White Pastel. Here's a photo of some of the tools I use [link] if it helps
No need to apologize Anthony I'm more than happy to answer questions regarding techniques & process. I'm not one of those people that learns something only to keep it to themselves [those types are only after a title such as. . .'no.1 artist', unfortunately, there's no such thing. . .only different styles]. . .I like to share!
