Came from Port Elizabeth originally - a lot like a New PLymouth, a little bigger in terms of population and no mountain!
Spent the last 10 yrs or so in Johannesburg - now there's a(strange) hole...fascinating dichotomy!

Unlike most South Africans crime wasn't the major consideration - I'm a pretty simple person, I think there's only three types of person in the world: builders, breakers, and those who love the status quo.
I'm a builder, it's in everything I do from photography to the business development work I do with start-ups. In SA I wasn't getting the opportunity to build under the 'new' political dispensation.

Then baby arrived - and we started looking to see where we'd have the opportunities to really contribute...while also giving baby the best we could. Easy decision really And one we haven't regretted for a day.
OK maybe that's not true - the last 6 weeks of rain have been a little trying!

Jhb is a culture shock for all the coastal dwellers who move up there...a fascinating place though, sophisticated and rough as hell at the same time.

Hmm that's really interesting - I like your viewpoint of their being 3 types of people and being able to recognise which type you are and incorporate that into your life.
