However, I am not so sure you want a old guy like me a group with "kidz" in its name. I hope you didn't ask because you thought I was younger than I am.
I am flattered that you asked but it just feels awkward considering that, although I am a big kid at heart, I am actually 50. My grandson is a kid, but not me. I would be glad to be friends and if you want to add any of my poetry to the group I would be glad to approve it.
I do write a lot about magic and the fae so your username made me smile. After all, we frogs and toads get along great with witches. I also see from you comments that you are also talking with several of my talented friends, so obviously you have great taste.
Honestly if you had named your group something other than "kidz" I would have joined for sure. I am still debating it. Maybe. Do you really want a scraggly old bumpy toad like me?

Well, I didn't mean to make you feel self conscious about the name. I would feel totally at ease about it if kidz was dropped from the name. However, I feel bad that you would even consider going that far to humor my silly anxieties. I guess one thing is for sure. You are obviously very serious about wanting me around and it wasn't because you thought I was younger than I am. I can't believe you would go that far for me. I don't even really know you yet.
Okay, you are obviously a very friendly person. I am sorry for having silly reservations. I don't know if you can even change group names or not. For that matter, who am I to ask you to do that? You liked that name. I have just complicated things. I am really flattered that you would change the name for me but it feels so unfair for me to even suggest that. Now I am conflicted. I am worried you will end up resenting me for being so picky.
In the meantime though, since you are so friendly, the least i can do is watch you too.

You are sweet. It is so silly that i am this hung up about it, so maybe I better explain. It is just that one time, way back in the elder age of MySpace, I had a young friend that i met because we liked the same band. She was also depressed and had a history of suicide attempts. One day she posted that she was feeling suicidal again so i kind of freaked out and did something I NEVER do, I begged her to reconsider, insisted she was valuable, and if she needed to talk i would always be willing to listen. No big deal BUT my mistake was I actually gave her my phone#. HUGE mistake.
She didn't call. Her dad called, totally freaked out and furious. I didn't blame him either. It is good that he was watching out for his kid. It is hard to explain to somebody though that you are harmless, and a father yourself, and a volunteer youth worker who had already had extensive background checks done (and passed with flying colors) OVER THE PHONE when all they see is a 40 year old creep trying to get his daughter to call him.
That is just the world we live in. I really am one of the good guys, BUT perception is everything. Do you know what i mean. Even in my life time the world is far less friendly than it was when i was kid. Who knows, maybe we are just more aware of it now. But anyway, ever since then i have been REALLY self-conscious about making sure I don't send the wrong signals. Yup, I am a very happily married grampa. The title "kidz" just makes me feel like I that weirdo who sits on the park bench at the playground but he isn't related to any of the kids who are playing there. It just feels sketchy. I am NOT that dude!
So now you know the big reason why I was so hesitant.
