funtastic rain and snow combo turning my world into soup and slushies mixtures, awesome for walking to work. working for the winter back in my home town. my hick-assed cowboys and Indians backwards little town, that i absolutely love and loathe all in the same breath; and I'm stuck here till April before i can run away and go get my welding tickets in the kootenays and then bee-line north. starting wage is 22/hr for anybody with the ability and credentials to weld. I'm going to cash in and cash out two years industrial welding pay off student loans, another four yeas mixed industrial and aesthetic welding, and I've got enough money to buy a publishing company; publish my own shit. good times travel and weld, travel and weld. and then maybe I'll be content. I'm really just kinda floating in life as of yet, or sitting at the top of a slalom course waiting for the cue to hurtle forth. by the way, living with a parent again after you've left the nest and provided for yourself for 5 years and done your own thing, can be extremely strenuous to your relationship with said parent over a period of time. because parents look for comfort in the familiarity of control; and will subsequently try to take over your life and mold it into their image and plans of what you should be and do with yourself. said plan above is my plan of my own creating. my Da would have me sit down in this shitty town at minimum wage for years and years, writing on my days off and repeatedly trying to contact publishers with a new piece of work or article. this tedium is unacceptable. never move back in with a parent, and certainly not a 66 year old man who knows everything in the world, except the ambitions of his own daughter. well you did ask what's new, sorry for ranting, I'll bid thee adieu

na old ones, months ago haha thanks tho, i need to get back in the shop, did a big tube pull the other day (lots of glass is really hot to work with) and it was still a bit too cold, usually im sweatin like crazy... haha course it's probably way colder where you are huh? i need to do something about my floor, the cement just sucks the heat right out of your feet, and it sucks being half an hour in to a piece and your toes go numb, haha i should get a chair probably, and a thick rubber floor mat...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zeescribe In reply to obscure-shadow [2010-01-03 05:55:49 +0000 UTC]

it sucks balls to get numb feet halfway through a project in a workshop. luckily the forge I've been frequenting is geo-thermal heated through it's floors. it's pretty cold up here, we got a big dump of snow new years eve and then the snow turned to rain. now it's damp and cold; i haven't left my house all day, just tidied up the work bench and tinkered around with bits of metal and stone all day long. a thick rubber floor mat works wonders on cement. I'm in a basement, i should know. the first year i lived in a basement i stitched together old gortex coats and made a makeshift rug to keep my feet warm; did the trick.

haha, it's kind of funny, it's like you can't look at glass until it looks at you, often times a piece will sit in my case for a while and somone will look at it and not really pay much attention to it, maybe even a few times over the course of a couple weeks then they will pick it up one day and be like "this ones new i've never seen it, cool man" and i'm like "nope it's the same one you picked up a couple times last week"
