depending on what kind of mood you are in depends on the album.
personally my favourites in order start with
daisies of the galaxy
electroshock blues
beautiful freak.
the first eels album i bought was beautiful freak 5 ish years ago, and i didnt stop buying their albums until i had them all. i suggest that one because it has a pretty smooth beat to it, very mellow/happy/sad all at once.
if you are unsure of what to get (and have a wide selection to chose from) get that one or souljacker (its kinda bluesy and great... although a bit newer..)
