I loved your spider-related cartoons and can relate a little. Although I grew up having owned a number of tarantulas when I was a kid. (This despite living in the prime hunting ground of two of North America's deadliest spiders, the Eastern Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. I actually had a black widow drop down onto my shoulder once at work. Luckily I felt it and knocked it off before I realized what it was. One of my coworkers saw it and pointed out to me what it was. As black widows go, this one was about the size of an American quarter, so about average, I guess.
I had a friend who used to have a tarantula as well, only his was a
goliath birdeater. Even after owning tarantulas before, this one scared me a bit. She developed an abscess between two of her legs and stopped eating. We lived in San Francisco at the time, and we needed to find her help, Unfortunately none of the veterinarians in town knew anything about treating arthropods. After searching around a bit we checked out the university who directed us towards an entomologist who specialized in arachnids. He managed to drain the abscess with a hypodermic. I moved back home shortly afterwards and we lost touch for a while.
I got a call from him a couple of years back and he said she was still going strong. That would make her in her twenties right about now. He said that she stopped rubbing off her abdomen hairs at him years ago, and she hasn't bitten him in years. He said that when he lets her out of her vivarium she likes to sit on his laptop, because it's warm I'd guess. When company comes over she's usually hidden behind the lid of his laptop when she's out, and has given some of his friends quite a shock a time or two.

Dommage. Si c'était le cas, j'aimerai bien une Amalia (wakfu la serie tv) en mauvaise posture avec un gros crapaud mufle ou un crapaud masqué (dofus aux trésors de kerubim ep 8) dans une drôle de situation en appelant à l'aide à Yugo et ces amis.
