done no bout no black eggs, but when I was in the Navy in the Phillipines in the 60-70's I encountered a thing called a baluke (sp?) it was a raw egg that had a partly developed embryo in it. Never tried it but know people who did. The raw egg and beer crowd. Some sailors will do anyting. That's why they have their reputation.
But my understanding i it was a native thing and probably had some mysterious powers attached, or maybe a health thing. Or maybe it was also just a male bonding thing of drunken Filipinos.

I've actually heard of it. I sometimes watch a show on the Travel Network about bizarre native foods. The host of the show ate one of those eggs with the bird inside. I don't think I would ever try it.

I think that would be a smart move. I was given the oportunity once, when in my drunken sailor mode back in the phillipines and the smell alone was prohibitive.
some people will do or try anything though.
of course most of those people also drink bad beer, so they probably have no taste buds anyway.
