You don't need to make a whole post addressing the matter if you don't believe it needs one, and you've already addressed it a little in your "Titles and Summaries" entry, but would it be possible to address a little more about Reader Inserts? There are things that I like about them and things, like other works of fanfiction, that I can do without. While reading the works of fan authors that really write them like they are professional works, I've done my best to take notes of what I can do to incorporate some of that into the ones that I write. (Like one doesn't like doing the whole (Y/N) every time a character says their name as it looks unprofessional and will simply just give the reader a nickname or not have them addressed by name at all.) But overall just writing a Reader Insert as you would any other successful fan work is helped significantly by your articles about outlining and improving as a writer.

I admit, I've never written an article on the subject of reader inserts, which is a little funny since I've written for a few fandoms that seem addicted to them. Hmm. I'll have to think about how to tackle that, but I might just give it a go and see if I can't come up with something. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks for taking the time to come and ask me! Actually, HTWGFF has been taken down for a very good reason -- I'm reworking it! Later this year, I'll be releasing a couple of mega-tutorials. One of them will be a much bigger and better version of HTWGFF. It'll also go all the way through the writing process instead of just the first half of it. In the mean time, I hope you'll enjoy my Fan Fiction Basics tutorials that I have up and let me know what other tutorials you might find helpful.Β

That's great to hear. For a moment I was worried you'd lost all your hard work. I'm really excited for everything new you're working on!
I've read through a couple of your mini tutorials and especially liked the one on multi-chapter outlining because I have trouble figuring out where I want to start and stop in a story and how many 'themes' to touch upon so that was really useful.
If you ever have time I'd love to see something on the try-fail cycle or similar because I really struggle filling up my story with 'stuff' β instead I tend to just want to skip to the climax β which would mean there being no story at all!
