Description ...no, I didn't stop working in Vue, I just had less time than ever

I made the rest of this yestreday morning, but I didn't have time to finish it, so I finished it today, plus I had to do some minor corrections (desaturation, lens correction) in PS.

Composed & rendered in Vue 7 Infinite

Thanks for viewing!

Awesome scenery, dear - these buildings are fantastic, and I love the more cloudy scene here, adds a lot of atmosphere.

I'm sorry you couldn't downloaded them, but I've just checked it and the download links work. No one has ever complained about it, maybe something in your browser settings block downloads. But if you told me what was wrong or how you tried to download them, maybe I could help. The packs are compressed in .rar folders, all you need to do is save them and extract them to Vue's Atmospheres folder (must be in your documents >> e-on software >> the folder of your Vue version >> atmospheres).
plus deviantART has internal server errors quite often, so maybe that's why the links didn't work, but they usually get fixed in some minutes, so try again later and the links will work. I could even send them in email if needed, but the server errors are not my fault, so please don't blame me.

"less time than ever", I guess that explains why it does not look as good as I am used of you.

Not that I can create things this good.

Well things that look really good and some times get close to photographs.

ohh it's really hard to achieve photorealism, and I doubt I have ever achieved it. I don't think I've seen more than 2-3 Vue renders that were really photorealistic.

Looking good! Did you also make the houses? I struggle with Japanese architecture professionally, at times, but it sure looks great when you get it finished!

Thank you! No, I purchased the Hikone castle model (on the top) from Cornucopia3D, and the pagoda on the right was included in a sample scene in Vue 7's Extras CD.

I like those buildings and how you placed them. The plants look very natural too. But the water in the foreground is a little bit... empty. Some water lillies or ducks or maybe a swan would have been nice.

By the way, what do you think about the new critique feature on dA? I just got my first one on my recent HDR landscape shot.

Thank you! Yeah I found the water empty too, and I did try to render it with water lilies but trust me somehow it didn't look good...

I cannot believe you did that on a computer. Well almost you're so close to having artificiality created a photograph of somewhere but the way the light hits the bush things in the foreground makes it look just a little too grainy because normally our eyes and cameras wouldn't pick up the individual leaves.
Still for me to nit pick is stupid as I am just getting to grips with 4 programs. Oh btw what's your opinion on the idea that perhaps if we think laterally we might just be able to make holograms and bring the cg world in to our world. I think I've worked out that we have most of the basic components to make it work. So imagine a mini projector on an automated levitation device (something similar to putting a torh on a mini rc helicopter) this thing would be a "light bee" to make sure you don't just get a floating ball of light, you place special computer controlled speakers around a room then the light will hit the sound waves, deform and enter your eye. Plus we currently have technology to make a "hard light hologram but lateral thinking you know. Would you like to make something in cg and thanks to the miracle of holograms be able to see your creation in the flesh as it were.

Now I have some important news though. I am nearly at a stage of rendering a static (unrigged and not suitable for animation) red special ops dalek made almost exclusively in anim8or, just a previous quick fix with the eye disks has now turned into a fairly major issue. so I'll have to completely redo the eye disks on a lathe before I can finish it. I have also just managed to fumble about with daz3d (a step up from anim8or, blender and sketchup) so I'm hoping that it'll be easier to animate and that I'll be able to find a plugin to help me with placing the hemis. If not I may have to download a basic demo version of c4d.

This may not seem relevant or understandable but basically it means I have more and better tools to make cgi stuff with.

btw I'd appreciate any tips

I like the clouds, it's rare to see alto-cumulus like clouds in Vue scenes Good use of Fir trees for that hedge too, I actually thought that was a certain plant that Vue didn't ship with at first

00AngelicDevil00 In reply to Chromattix [2009-04-05 11:38:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I really wanted to make clouds like this, but I couldn't make them look like this until =nukeation told me how to make them
...and those are not fir trees; those are from a freebie plant pack from C3D [link] ...so you were right, it's a certain plant that Vue didn't ship

It looks pretty cool

I thinks it's a little too desturated though, a little more colour would be a good thing in my opinion.

Thanks! I added a little more saturation, check it!
Yeah, though on C3D it looks more saturated (you know, it looks a bit differently on websites). I desaturated it bcuz when I asked about realistic renders, a lot of people said it can be achieved by desaturating the bright colors a bit.

It's better like this if you ask me

It might be that C3D or dA runs a small filter on all images, but I don't see why they'd do that...
