Description My original purpose was to play with the brand new Cloud Anisotropy in Vue 7.5, but I ended up creating this quite unrealistic scene, and breaking my polygon count record with 60 037 339 169 polygons!!

So there are some giant alien plants being grown and "protected" under that eco dome...what for?? I don't know. It just came

Rendered in Vue 7.5 Infinite, postwork in PS CS4
Eco Dome, Gill's water, seagulls & ship from C3D

Thanks for viewing!

I really like the idea - you don't see such images every day.

Good work with the terrain also - boy, I so want to get started with Vue myself.

Since I decided to go with Vue xStream, I have to wait for my copy of Cinema4D to arrive... which should be today.

I think this weekend will be the time for my first test renders.

Meep! HOW many polys? Your poor 'uter! lol!

But WHAT a gorgeous atmo. Where the clouds hit the mountains in the back there seems to be a little too much noise, but other than that - the lighting in clouds is just stunning.

I LOVE the landscape too - but I'm not suprised at that poly count, the terrain(s) must have been HUUUUUUUGE! (I'm guessing a procedural or two for the terrain in the foreground with a couple of standard in the distance for the rear mountains? Sorry, I love trying to work out how things are done, it gives me ideas)

hahhahha my poor puter rendered the scene in 4 hours without any problem
Thanks so much!
Well the terrains....that one in the foreground with the EcoDome on top is a HyperTerrain, the two huge cliffs behind it are standard terrains, and that large one in the background is a procedural terrain.

OK, now I'm just jealous... I want a decent computer! lol!

Ahh, a hyper terrain. I'm still figuring those out!

Love the details on the mountain, is that a standard terrain or procedural? great job getting the river where you want, and thos eplants are probably being protected from Earth's atmosphere of which they will die in

00AngelicDevil00 In reply to Chromattix [2009-05-31 11:22:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! The terrain in the very foreground (with the Eco Dome on top) is a HyperTerrain, the two other terrains behind it are standard terrains, and the one in the background is procedural
and I shaped the river simply by painting riverside plants

Ahh, that explains the polygon count phew, at least I know the river was done manually, I thought you guys might have another function-trick up your sleeve or something

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

00AngelicDevil00 In reply to Chromattix [2009-05-31 16:45:33 +0000 UTC]

well, you can do a lot of things with the function editor, but "painting" is definitely more simple

You could have done some filtering on the eco dome in Photoshop, but other than that it's not to unrrealistic.
Very nice scene, kind of has an "Alien" of Fantasy-like look to it.
