Description Another sketch! It could be better, some things look off, but I'm still happy by how it turned out!

This is how Herimash  (the feline-looking race in my setting) warriors typically go around. Using armor or protective clothing is viewed as cowardice by them, not to mention they are also uncomfortable over the fur and hinder their movements.
Herimash are very agile, and while they are terrible in open field battles, they are extremely dangerous when they fight in the middle of their forests, using guerrilla tactics and disappearing in matter of seconds.

The weapon he's throwing is a Kpinga, a Central African throwing knife.  www.vikingsword.com/vb/attachm…

That is really neat. I know how deadly those impacts are from those kpinga knives... Sickles or whatever they are called.

Thank you! Indeed, I really wish I could put my hands on a kpinga and see how effective it is!

that overly complicated weapon looks like A PAIN for a blacksmith to make! "by the gods!? did you lose ANOTHER ONE?"
but yea that is quite the difficult pose you did! and it looks good

I love the little bit of info about them and their fighting preferences! I think making them use armors wouldn't really fit ..their style anyway? so a good choice! And for some reason I can imagine these guys hiding in trees and pretty much everywhere when they are fighting in the forests.. so the armor would definitely be in the way!  Also that weapon looks like nasty one to be hit by..

...I really like the design of that war paint..

Thank you a lot, I'm happy you found it interesting!   I agree, it's totally not their style, they are supposed to run and hide quickly on the trees! And it is, like an oversized knife!

Thanks!

Good for them using their strengths. No point in fighting what you can't win. Man, here's another cool weapon!

"Knife". More like a glaive, even though real glaives aren't like game glaives, instead being thrust+slash spears.

Woah, that's one fierce-looking cat! I love how the warpaint covers not only his face, but also arms and legs, though I'll admit just seeing his face piercings is painful. And there are so many crazy weapons in Africa that I didn't even know existed.

Do you do traditional or digital art with these? It all looks amazing no matter the type, but I'm trying to improve my anthro drawing skills...which is lacking currently. The only good anthros I can draw currently are Foxes, and I have trouble drawing felines.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

0laffson In reply to Tyknapp [2017-03-06 03:09:05 +0000 UTC]

Always traditional!   The only suggestion I can give is to practice a lot and using references.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tyknapp In reply to 0laffson [2017-03-06 05:02:25 +0000 UTC]

The practice part I understand, and people tell everyone to do all the time...I'm just lazy and need to get up and actually do it. As for the references, I have never used references after I learned to draw my respective animals. I didn't see a need for it and thought, or subconsciously thought it wouldn't be original.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

0laffson In reply to Tyknapp [2017-03-06 14:22:54 +0000 UTC]

As reference I don't mean using other artists' style, but simply studying human and animal anatomy. Everything has to be based on real anatomy in some way, and once you are familiar enough with the basic structure everything is way easier! You'd still have your own style in the end.

We've got things like Agent Orange and napalm to deal with people like the Herimash.

The humans back then had fire, didn't they?  Suppose they burn the Herimash forest from one end, to the other.
