Hey AtomicCatz,
Thanks for all the nice comments you left for me. There were quite a number of them! And I enjoyed reading them all. (:
I am glad you like this piece especially; this is one of the pieces that I spent longer time compared to my other works. It's a bit over 2 years old now and it looks better than my current drawings UH OH! Hah...
Thanks for dropping by my gallery.

You're too talented.
What, why you have to put Advance Critique on, I'm no here good enough to see what might be wrong with this!
I really like the vest and straps. You got a great soft depth applied to it.
The back lighting is really cool too, I like how the straps get lighter as they get closer into the background, once again, great depth.
Lovely.

The artist's description previous contained a paragraph that explained to not misunderstand "critique encouraged" mark on the comment box. It is simply encouraged, and not demand/expected. I do not want viewers to force themselves to give critique comments.
I did not take your sentences seriously, so I hope you know I am not taking this as a serious issue either haha
Adding depth is more useful than anything. Even if you have unrealistic style, depth makes everything look much nicer. I suppse this deviation is not a good example of what I am trying to say, but I hope you know what I mean. They are rather easy.
thanks Phil

I really like the whole smoothness in the coloring, as well as the bright lighting.

Hehe "smoothness"
This image is extremely large. If you view this image in its original size, you will see that it is not smooth at all; it is consists of thousands of tiny brush strokes.

Oh wow,he looks like so real-I feel like I'm inside of the picture-AGAIN!
haha I don't know why,but I think this is out from your style (if someone would ask me if you did it,and I wouldn't know who did-so I would say no.)
Hmmm...this kind of coloring is my favorite. It looks luike the same style of coloring in your picture "empty".Heh.
My favorite parts of this are his shoes and his hand...thing.
Also,I really like the lighting effect-it quite looks that someone is standing behind of him and lighting on him with a big flashlight.
You are so consider,I'm sure that she will like it and it will make her birthday to the best day of the year.

"haha I don't know why,but I think this is out from your style"
My roommate mentioned the exact statement.
I believe it maybe the type of coloring style or specific color choices; I rarely choose colors to have this type of contrast to show extreme brightness. Or...it could be the face. Sometimes artist's style can be recognized by looking at the certain expressions they often draw on their characters.
Thanks for the comment Simon. The extreme light effect was fun to work with.

Congratulations, you just made my head explode. :0
Anyhow, I don't think you'd want to hear all my spazzing, then again, I've calmed down since first seeing it so I don't know if I could just...recreate the spazz.
Just know that this is really really appreciated~
I don't usually crit. gifts because it seems rude, but since you asked:
Fist of all, I must say how wonderfully smooth this whole thing looks, and yes, it looks almost 3D.
And you did a wonderful job on not making the colors boring, since all-white is a bit hard to make interesting in terms of colors.
I love that you made his belts go all over the place, in the foreground, mid-ground and background, I can almost imagine them moving.
I'm also very amazed at how well you portrayed him! ((not that I think you couldn't)) Because sometimes there are just drawings of other characters that doesn't really feel like the character, but it feels like Kurah in this. :d
Not to be a bum but I think the triangle is on the wrong side, should be under his left eye. But it's really hard to differentiate right and left of people you're drawing so no problem there.
The only thing I find a little odd in this are his legs, they seem too small or skinny compared with the bulk of his torso. Perhaps if you thinned that part down from the shoulders...ugh, that doesn't make sense.
The other odd thing is the lighting on his left(our right) leg, the shading there seems too dark compared with the rest of his pants. :0
And that's all!
Thanks again, this is really an unexpected and pleasant gift.

I am not sure if you commented before I removed certain pharagraph on the artist's description, but it explained that "critique encouraged" does not mean I demand them. [it is simply "encouraged"] I wanted to prevent viewers to force themselves to provide critique comments. I think it is wrong for artist to expect such detailed comments from everyone just because of the comment setting.
Well, since you already have decided to give me critique comment...too late.
Perhaps I looked at the wrong reference. I clearly saw his red marks on theright side . Now that you mention it your newer image of Kurah have the mark on the left side. Sorry about that.
Was it THAT unexpected? I want to be a good citizen!
thanks for the thoughtful responce, Z.

I thought you might have misunderstood my "critique comment encouraged" setting. Many people seem[or at least people I have seen talking about it] believes c.c.e means the artist is demand/asking for it. It is simply encouraged and no viewers should be obliged to actually write contructive feedbacks. Maybe you knew this already and I being an ass to you. ]:
Oh. Then...
I guess it was better for you to not expect it. I am quite busy [busier than last semester]. If you didn't mention your birthday early enough I might not have finished the drawing in time heh.

Yes, it is usually good to talk about something, even if it is something stupid like "dogs are better than cats". Because once a communication is established it increase chance of new inputs for each individual.
I just wish that more dA netizens were reasonable/understanding. Actually...I don't really care. Lurking is good enough for me. Also, I already know few people whom I feel safe about talking about any topic. [you included]

Pops out of the damn page. Monitor. Whatever works. The folds in the clothing look so nice.. It has that "simple yet complex" look to it, which I looove.
I wanna reach out and touch it.

Ah, I love your work very much. I think how you portray the characters is unique. Shaded, uncoloured, splashing and splattering about or anything; they tend to show off in a believable form. Or 3D, I could say.
The lighting effect from behind is a lovely add on--Especially since the eyes and the hair match like so. Oh, I do love those eyes! And the emphasize on the shadow of the leg being close to him.
The way the straps move around is attractive! Shows off a flowy, easy mood in a way. He does look like he's greeting someone "off screen." Though the hand looks like it's to the front, it's a bit ambiguous. Possibly could be towards what he's looking at as well.
Sorry if I sounded at all silly, I've been meaning to say something for quite awhile. (Hahahaha.)
As well; This is a really great gift.

Thanks for the detailed comment TwilightDune
Happy to hear that you thought this appears "3D". I do not mind flat-ness, but for this drawing I was going for more realistic appearence. Hmm, I never noticed that the hair and the eyes matched, but in general I enjoy using very few colors, heh. [though it is probably not healty for an artist]
The reason the hand is facing foward is because, initially, I sketched him to attempt to grab or snatch something. Later, I aborted that plan due to lack of time. As you can see there is no longer any object in range haha. However, I did not think of the direciton of the hand is facing; I should have thought about it more carefully.
Thanks again TwlilghtDune.

Did a fine job with the colouring!
I think astounding work could be done even if it's just a few colours, I don't think it's unhealthy. Heck, I actually find monochrome appealing as well.
Sorry if you felt a bit uncomfortable when I mentioned that. Haha, lack of time stings like some liquid medicines.
Though, I also kinda discovered the perspective of the image. His legs seem to be viewed high above while his upper body doesn't appear to follow that--maybe a little more emphasize is needed in there. Hmm, feels a bit odd that I just mentioned this as a reply--I apologize.
You're welcome! You may call me Seluda if you want, but I guess that's too late for that. Hahaha.

Heh, monochromistic images are fun to work with, although working with just one single color is not as entertaining [usually up to 3 or 4 colors variation seems to fit my taste]
It seems I often become blind when it comes to adding "floor" to the character's pose. You are correct. If someone was to appear that way, your upper body must be at an angle, almost as if you are falling backwards. However, most of the problem comes from positioning and scaling of the leg; a problem I have had for centuries. It came back to haunt me.
Sweet. I will call you Seluda then... if I remember it next time. Thanks again for your words, Seluda.

That's true.
Though, it's pretty subtle, it's not really an eye-bulging mistake. In a way, you make it look interesting because it's different. Bwahaha, I'm probably abusing freedom. At least you're aware of it.
No problem.
