i absolutely love this piece, it has great meaning, and the fact that it's traditional work made with acrylics makes it even better, traditional painting never ceases to amayze, especially with such good concept.

Exzentrizitat [2008-03-22 05:26:52 +0000 UTC]

The chosen concept for this piece is definitely echoed in its symbolism. Those black strands appear as either restraints or even the strings of a marionette both of which would symbolize the control & manipulation of the silhouetted figure. It's interesting that you should show the figure without similar, defining details,as in the outstanding and powerful image of the face. As if to point out the unnoticed or perceived as insignificant figures we sometimes seem to be in the grand scheme of a domineering society in the eyes of the prominent ones...

Also, the facial features are extremely impressive, and serve palpable expression. There's a hint of irony too,as the message of the eyes seems sinister,in comparison to the smile. Perhaps an image of deception and/the mixed messages sometimes sent by the more 'dominant' members of society.

Whether or not this critique makes sense or is even close to a proper description of your work, one thing is for certain, this is one powerful painting with a strong message!

It certainly does make sense, and you're quite spot on about why I didn't give the figure defining details. Thank you for commenting and the fav!

Amazing work and everything you post is so true, but people don't notice it before someone tells or shows them. You did amzing work with the expression and the message you want to convey with this picture! Brilliant expression of the woman and I can really feel what you want to express with this picture! Thanks for posting it!

Why woman? Could've been a male 'cause most societies are patriarchal.

Well, as usual, your work is really good.

This painting really reminds me of my friend who ran away from home last month. She says her parents are really strict on her and felt repressed at home, but now, they're in good terms again.
