Feral’s ear gave a twitch as a faint sound tickled his ear. Listening into the wind, the dull thud of hoof-beats became apparent. Narrowing his eyes and focusing on the horizon, the old stallion could see a single horse emerge from behind the crest of the hill. Feral’s eyes flicked from the advancing horse, to Silent, the mare was grazing, totally oblivious. He rolled his eyes to look back at the horizon to see five more figures galloping after the horse he had spotted earlier. But they were different. Humans rode on their backs. With a sharp snort, he spun round and sprinted away toward the woods.

Silent But Deadly looked up as Feral ran, she was about to follow but spotted what they were running from. The mare froze; watching the six silhouettes get closer and closer. She’d escaped that world, why had they come here? She sprang into action and ran.

“SILENT!?” came a familiar voice. Her heart managed to stop and leap at the same time. Skidding to a halt she stared behind her in disbelief.

“Arrow!?” she gasped, spinning round to greet him, he slid to a halt, his coat drenched in sweat, nostrils flaring and side’s heaving.

“What on earth are you doing here!?” he cried.

“I came looking for you! When you didn’t come back, I thought you might be in trouble…and it looks like you are.”

The stallion glanced backwards, “We both will be if we don’t get going!” he chuckled, kicking up the dirt as both shot off toward the forest.
