Those cars always looked particularly creepy to me, I think it's their dead-eyes and the upward angle. They have those same eye-sags that Pinky had, interesting, must have been the same animator. That bottom car looks like he might have been the same model car as Dusty, the first car in the song. Slight differences, maybe a different year but same model. The middle one has one of the most detailed hood ornaments, next to the hearse which has that big diamond looking ornament. Interesting though that this one actually looks like the Mercedes-Benz emblem. *searches* Maybe he's one of these? [link] The oval emblem might be Ford, I know Ford has an oval emblem now, but back in 1955 and for who knows how long after the emblem was a shield-shape.
Look at those drum breaks. : P

Yeah, they DO kinda look creepy sometimes, just staring into outer space, the things that might be going through their minds...Also why do these 3 stare at each other at the last moment?I never knew why
Yeah, I have a feeling the bottom might be the same model as Dusty you can imagine it with a smashed grill and it'll probably look the same.
The car in the middled is most definitely a Mercedes...of some kind, don't think it'll be the one in the link, because it doesn't have the curved sides like the one in the picture. It's kind of unclear, some of the cars in the junkyard look a bit too generic but it's always good to try and guess what they might be.
Yeah, dat drum break
I might do some of the background cars in the future, nobody else does them a lot, or at all I think so I'm just gonna do them. Do you know what I never managed to realise until a while ago? If these cars have still got some life in them, then that means that all the other broken cars that you seen in the rest of the movie (In Ernie's) are like rotting corpses...

Well think of it like an animator, you're trying to keep things moving. They probably thought it'd fee awkward just leaving the cars staring at the audience those last couple notes of the song. So what do you do, you have them look somewhere else. But if they look anywhere but each-other then the audience is going to wonder what they're looking at, which of course they don't plan to ever show. In a non-literal way, I always assumed they were surprised not expecting all of them to be saying the same thing. So they look at each-other like "oh you said that too huh?"
Yeah.
Exactly, but with the generic design of the cars, you're not going to get every detail exactly the same to the real-life cars. Plus a lot of details are missing, but that's to cut down on drawing for the animation. Things like blinkers, mirrors, antenna, ect. So just keep that in mind.
Hehe yeah..
Hey that'd be cool, yeah the BG cars don't get any love. I agree, I think a car is probably dead when it's striped down to a major extent. Most of those cars did look pretty lifeless, probably just a population of living cars sitting there surrounded by corpses.. pretty gross indeed. Then being sprayed with guts every time the crusher crushes a car.
