Description Took a break from being a retard and finally ordered the correct remote.

USE UK HIGHLAND PHOTOGRAPHY IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK! THEY'RE EXCELLENT!

Ahem.. So I wanted to test it. Sadly the cloud came in and spoilt the last half of this shot. This was approx 1.5 hours

But there you go. My "First" star trail shot

True that! I want to go camping one day just so I can take a 2 hour exposure with a clear night sky
One day lol

there's programs you can use that stack individual images into a star trail shot, these can let you get away without moonlight or light pollution ruining longer exposures.

Hunt down startrails.exe for it. You can use say a 100 30second shots or something.

How did you get this to stack smoothly? I keep ending up with tiny gaps between the stars.
Love the way you snagged some sunset (I think).

Single shot dude, the only way I shoot these The Sunset is a tiny patch of light polution, the only bit around here. The lighter areas on the feild are lights from one of the animal sheds

Wow! That's really cool then. Too much city light around here to do a single exposure I think, but I may try it one day.

it's very nice, I read a book recently. This book was about photography and they gave a lot of ideas. And to take the stars with a very long time was on it, and I wanted to test ^^ But I haven't got remote...
I need so many things ^^

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
So pretty! Everyone I've showed it to/has seen it has said so!!!
Glad you finally got your remote all sorted out, and sometimes it's good to take a break from being a retard....break out of that rut you find yourself in
Really though the cloud didnt spoil the last half it looks fecking amazing! Your star trail shots are always superb and this one just proves how much talent you have with what you do!
It's my desktop so nya it must be good
Really fecking epic shot!

Yeah I'm pretty pleased with this one, something about the colours in it. I had to edit it rather heavily because the raw shot looked like day time, so I darkened it down a bit.

The clouds made less of an impact than I thought. Usually they totally ruin photos with even the tiniest of haze in the sky (which you'll no doubt see because I'll have MORE of these to come. I'm hoping to get a bunch of nice pics sorted out for people on dA actually and one of these sort is going to a watcher of mine. You inspired me (again) What can I say

Hob0xCoR3 [2011-12-18 20:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Out of curiosity, how did you take this shot? Like what do you mean by "remote"? From the other comments, it sounds like this is made up from several stills over a period of time??
I really like this. So sorry for asking so many questions...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

12GSuper In reply to Hob0xCoR3 [2011-12-19 03:36:41 +0000 UTC]

This is different to the other image I uploaded recently, they are "stacked" images. They let me "build up" light thats collected in the camera from many pics. Where as this one I took a single image by using my remote [link] its a little device that when I set my camera to "bulb" mode it lets me take infinite length exposures (well as long as the battery holds out that is) So I press a button and the shutter opens, wait 1.5 hours, and then flick the switch to close it again.

Also, Halley, really don't worry about asking questions. I'm always happy to answer any you have

Thanks Greg!

I've had the idea of shooting a road sign near me for quite some time (tried once before but was chased off by badgers, don't ask... feckers) So I'll be trying that the next clear night we have. Call me inspired all over again by your shot of the direction sign, its making me want to face the badgers again!!!

Really I loved this when you first showed me and I still love it now! The colors are awesome and I do love those trails!

Keep posting stuff like this Ted! <3 I want to see more!

Exactly, so its my "first".

First with the new remote, first from that position, first of that night first on this profile!

See where this is going?

Gonna have to find more interesting areas. I need a scope or something to do while this is going on. its SOOOO boring standing there. (I mean if I go elsewhere, this one I just came in and sat my fat ass in the warmth)
