This piece really caught my attention. The colors, although fairly subtle seem to really pop with the use of contrast and a strong light source from an unusual angle. Although I’m color blind between red and brown (red looks like brown … or maybe brown looks like red), I can tell there are strong but subtle reds and browns in play throughout this piece.
I really like the light coming from the bottom left – not a direction most pieces use. This really makes the mind think and draws people into the work to try to figure it out. I also like the use of the red glow in the upper right; it helps to offset the brightness in the lower left of the work without creating total darkness in the work. Not having darkness helps to give the works a softer, more sensual feel. The colors, posture, and expressions really allows one to want to be a part of the piece.
What didn’t work for me on this piece… not very much. The hair passing across the hand should have cast a bit of shadow, possibly even a touch on the face. Her eyelash looks as though it is passing over part of her hair – pulling the hair across the lashes would help drop her eye a bit deeper in the face, which wouldn’t be bad. Her chin meets his collar; it may work better to either have a slight gap or, my preference, a bit of an overlap – dropping her chin a touch below his collar. This helps to pull her closer to him and visually pull the work together – especially since it’s nearly in the center of the work.
As a whole, this is a wonderful piece and I could see this hanging on my wall at home.

Maybe a bit, but it still works.
I always like to go back and do the same work again - it can be surprising. As can just looking back at your artwork over the years and seeing the progression, development and refining your style (hopefully that's what you see).

First of all, wow, wow, wow! This is really good! The angle is great, the expressions are good, the lighting is soft and luminous, and I can't say anything bad about it.
The only things that maybe look slightly off are the man´s ear, which looks too high up, and the way the girl's eyebrow slightly overlaps her hair. Otherwise, it is amazing.

Yes, it must be really difficult to place features at an angle like that. I hope to see the redrawing if you do one!
No problem, I love your piece! It was a pleasure to comment on it.

The lighting in this piece really works to set a mood, and for the most part consistently sticks to where it seems to be coming from. I also really like how the hair flows through the fingers of the man in the picture.
If I had to pick some portions of the piece that seems somewhat off it'd be the shading of the juncture between the girls' lip and nose. It seems far too deep and awkward a shading in the crevice, especially when compared to the direction of the nose itself. The lashes also seem like they shouldn't overlap the hair but rather be under it. Same with her brows.
As for the man, he seems for the most-part fine, but the placement of his ear seems a bit high to me. Could just be me.
Beyond that though, it really is wonderfully detailed and consistent, and I really like the colors used. It knows exactly what it's intent to depict, and it does its job wonderfully and has a very warm mood to it and its story.

I get exactly where you come from about the details when it comes to realism. That's one of my main styles, mixed with fantasy of course, and I still have a great deal of problems with it. I look forward to seeing your redone version of it someday when you decide to do that.

Wow, what a lovely and romantic image! I feel breath taken as the participants in the image look *U*
I love the lighting and atmosphere of this piece but I feel in some areas of the highlight that the skin gets a little too washed out. Mostly that bright yellow on the hand. Maybe making that colour a tiny bit more saturated or not having quite as much would help.
The detail in the brown hair is beautiful but in the blonde hair it gets a bit busy. I would be careful with adding too many wispy strands as it draws the focus downward out of the image and away from the couple.
I just love the colors and the blonde's gentle expression. You did an amazing job rendering this artwork, I think it really stands out amongst the other images in your gallery.

I guess I was thinking of the fingers under the hair, they should probably have a cast shadow from it c: The middle and ring fingers also look more whitish than yellowish like the other highlight areas, which felt off to me. Its pretty subtle though.
This image definitely made me interested in your characters and what their story is!

That's a good idea, it is sometimes really nice to read a little bit of story to go with the image in the description box, as long as it isn't too long. And cliches are common for a reason... they are story elements that people enjoy! So don't feel bad if your story isn't super original, being unoriginal doesn't necessarily make something not good c:
