Did you know the inspiration for this character was that author, Lewis Carol, had a recurring nightmare for several nights in which he foresaw his own death. The vision was accompanied by a belief by Carol was he was being warned about his impending doom from a very mysterious and ancient figure known only as "IL SEPARATIO". IL SEPARATIO is considered to be one of the most rarely seen or heard characters in ancient lore. This "being" as old as God and Lucifer is the third great entity and his name literally translates to "The Separation". This being can take on virtually ANY form it chooses to appear in and although so rarely seen that most Angels do not even know of his existence let alone what his true appearance is, is rumored to prefer taking on the form of an eerie fat cat with a curiously toothy-grin. Lewis Carol believed that This "Being" was trying to spare his life to continue work he had yet to do. He believed there was a ghostly 'cat' that appeared to warn him during these nightmares and upon further research he learned of this ancient folklore. Lewis Carol created the character of "the Cheshire Cat" in order honor this being that saved his life. IL SEPARATIO is the personification of HOW God separated the Light from the Darkness when He created the world in the image He had planned. IL SEPARATIO is neither good not evil and exists purely to maintain balance within the known universe. This ancient lore has been used by others as inspiration for characters today. The "Grey Jedi" of STAR WARS are said to borrow the "need for balance" from this theme and the character of "The Vengeful One" (based on this theme) has been used by the rock band, "Disturbed". there is even a song of that title and a video to go along with it. The Vengeful One even has the "Grin". The Cheshire Cat in "ALICE" is a watcher and a waiter, always observing to keep balance between good and evil, between life and death, between Light and Darkness. FYI.
