a SLR is a single lens reflex camera, which is a type of camera that lets you see through the lens when looking through the viewfinder rather than a separate viewport, meaning you can see exactly what the camera sees and not instead be looking through a hole an inch too high (which translates to quite a big difference over distance)

also, SLRs are those bigger cameras with all the settings and interchangeable lenses.

a DSLR is a digital version. (digital single lens reflex)

oooohhh!! so the SLR's are like the big sony's and cannon's a lot of photographers use?

I think it looks great, it would be a terrific wallpaper. We had heavy clouds that night, so couldn't see it.

13thMurder In reply to Pan-Zareta [2010-12-25 00:41:25 +0000 UTC]

can't do much with it for a wallpaper, my camera's zoom isnt very good and this is the image's actual size (so not scaled down, thus in minimal detail and you can see the camera's grain texture)

Along with being the first TLE on the Winter Solstice in hundreds of years, the Moon was positioned with the Milky Way behind it. For people like you that were lucky enough to see it, it made for some spectacular pictures. The stars not normally visibe with a Full Moon, pop into view during the eclipse. I'm jelous as the eclipse was totaly obscured by cloud in Southern Ontario where I am.

i had to shoot between the clouds, it was almost completely cloudy, but the cloud cover was moving pretty fast and i found a few holes.

insomniaworks In reply to 13thMurder [2010-12-24 23:13:55 +0000 UTC]

At least you had a few holes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

13thMurder In reply to insomniaworks [2010-12-25 00:39:28 +0000 UTC]

lol yeah i was estimating how long the holes would last and trying to set the exposure for as long as possible, because if a cloud came in the way while the shutter was open it ended up looking like the moon was leaving a trail :/

and the clouds were moving really fast

I'm surprised you could get a shot like that without an SLR. My POS camera could never do that. Good shot, though. It was cloudy where I live.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

13thMurder In reply to robotkurisu [2010-12-23 23:01:27 +0000 UTC]

it was cloudy here too, i had to time out each shot, considering they were long exposures. and out of all the ones i got this was the only good one

13thMurder In reply to kkuffnerphotos [2010-12-23 02:53:29 +0000 UTC]

it took me about 25 shots to get a decent one, which is a lot considering how long the exposure was.
