Great contrasting with the bright blue sky and the white snow.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that because it can be difficult to control the amount of light in the sky/snowy landscape when you shoot in auto mode. I use auto because when it's 15F/26C degrees BELOW zero it's too difficult with numb fingers to keep trying to find the right manual mode/light etc. I keep changing my body position/angle and the camera's until find what I think is best. Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't! It's so nice that you think it worked here because it's such a challenge! (camera is a Canon SX20 IS)

Well they look prety good to me. It has thawed here, I am glad as the birds on the lake were really suffering trying to find food. I gave them bread today, they were so hungry. One of the your cygnets has disappeared too, probably flown away to find food. When they can't get on the water they are vulverable to people walking dogs. A few years ago, one was terribly mauled by a dog. It's mate had died of old age, the female had to be destroyed after the attack leaving 3 cygnets, however they seemed to learn from the ducks and eventually they flew away to new climes.

There is still ice that is strong enough to support a person, however there is a thin skim of water on the top. I think it will freeze again soon.

Thank you! How nice of you! Does anyone else feed them when they can't get food? It's distressing to hear about waterfowl being injured/killed by people's dogs. I so love swans and always figured they flew south in winter.....but I guess that depends on "what winter is" in each location. We have the Trumpeter Swans that stop here in summer for a few days to feed before going farther north....then they stop on their way back before flying south. I missed getting photos of them this year because I had to send my camera back to Canon for repair. Have to wait until next year!
