Description Funny thing happened. Last week my son and I were wishing for more snow since we only had about 3 inches on the ground which is not nearly enough in Alaska! Now we have received around 20 inches in the last 8 days – enough already, we didn't mean that much!

So...I bundled up this afternoon, grabbed my camera and trudged out wandering in the woods around the creeks for about an hour and a half. It was a gorgeous sunny day around 20 degrees F. And here I don't even have all of my summer/fall photos up yet!

20" already? We have only gotten snow flurries so far and no accumulation. But I think we are getting some this weekend.

We're now up to 41 inches at my place and it's snowing right now, with more expected this weekend. We're close to setting an all-time record for Nov. snowfall! Did you get any yet? Want some of ours??!

Good gosh!! That is a lot of snow so fast. We had flurries one day and then got 4" the following day and it melted off the next day. So far (Knocks on wood) so good, just hope a blizzard won't hit us like last December.

That's right! You did have quite a blizzard last December! Maybe you'll be lucky this year!

Awww...thanks so much Anna! It was so gorgeous out and I was warm enough to stay out for an hour and a half! It was 20 F. which for us is cold, but not too bad.

Thanks so much Andy! I loved being out in all that snow yesterday, because it was sunny and breathtakingly gorgeous! Now, today I have to clear all that snow off my car - and it's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow! It's sure giving my weak arms a workout, so maybe it will speed their recovery!

I think you're right, workouts speed recovery. When I herniated some disks in my back, I did the opposite of what doctors told me to do. I did more exercise, sit-ups, crunches, and Pilates and amaze my doctor by telling him I was refusing back surgery.

I appreciate your faves on Japanese Gardens and Hana Kanzashi. Thanks!

Good for you! There's a time and place for surgery but most - not all - backs will get well without it - if you do the right things. Both my son and I have had herniated discs more than once and we stay away from the knife! My son is now doing triathlons! And as you know I have always been active and am just now beginning to get closer to "normal". Just clearing the snow off my car the last 10 days has given my arms and sholuders a real workout so they are closer to getting back in shape! I've lost track but I think we've had about 24-26 inches with another 3 possibly tonight! I was out today to get pics and the snow was up to my knees off the trail! 4 weeks ago I would never have been able to walk in that...but now I can...Yay!

Many years ago, my eyes were opened when I read that most physicians take only one or two nutrition classes. They also have a contempt for movements that advocate health by special diets and exercise. This taught me they cannot be totally relied upon to help in these kinds of cases. Healthy skepticism of all authority is generally a good thing!
