Description Thanks so much for the views/favs/comments on ALL of the scenic wallpapers I have submitted over the last few weeks. I truly appreciate it! Braving the cold comes with the territory.....no pain.....no gain!

Winter Sunrise/Sunset wallpapers today. This sunset photo was taken south of the city looking out over the pack ice of Turnagain Arm.....with the railroad in between. In this photo the mountains are just behind me. Taken yesterday.....and today I went and bought a face mask because with the wind it was brutally cold! It is however.....one of the most gorgeous drives anywhere I've ever seen, and I've traveled in 46 of the 50 states!!

Hope you enjoy a bit of winter scenery from the Great North Land! Thanks for looking and all the very best for a blessed and Happy New Year!

Taken with my Cannon A-720 IS and available light.

Due to severe Carpal Tunnel I am not able to do very many comments – please accept my apologies.....and my thanks here. So just remember.......if I fav your work, with no comments.....I LOVE it!! My thanks in advance for your views, favs and comments.....they are all very much appreciated!

Railroad to Heaven: The title reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode, "Willoughby." Do you recall it?

I must have missed that one! I used to watch it all the time, but don't recall that one. I titled this shot as a kind of "parody" on "Stairway To Heaven". I know......gotta type more under the pics but I usually submit very late at night and by then am SO tired! Thanks Andy!

In Willowbougby, a man woke up in heaven. A train had taken him there and relieved him of his stressful job and his horrible wife who wanted him to stay at his job so she could have her jewels and tennis lessons.

This is beautiful, Anita! Do you often get such great colors with your sunsets or does it happen more at one time of the year than another? Do you shoot with automatic settings or do you adjust manually? I love your photography. You have such a great eye for color and scene.

Awwww...thank you for your great compliments....very much appreciated! We don't very often get great color because we don't have very much pollution in the air, which is what contributes greatly to intense color....so when we do get good color....it's a real treat! It seems there is more color to the sunrises/sunsets in the winter.....probably because of atmospheric conditions and the angle of the sun, which is very low on the horizon in the winter. Right now I'm shooting automatic with my newer digital camera, but I can shoot manually with it as well. I just need to take the time to read the manual! I have discovered though, that the angle at which you hold a digital camera, is very critical to how the lighting and color can come out, and am loving experimenting with that.....it fascinates me! I do not use any filters when I shoot. I have a very good Olympus SLR camera with a fantastic combo lens, and if I can find a cheaper source of film, may start shooting some with that, because the quality is so much better. I't all manual settings of course. Thanks for all your support!

I like the cool tranquility of this beautiful sunrise. It's so nice to be able to see such a sky! We have rather bland sunrises most mornings, but before a storm, the sky gets really colorful.

Thanks so much Jean! So much of my work is that of tranqulity, probably as a result of a rather exciting/demanding life for years and now peace and tranquility are very important to me. We don't get a lot of sunrises/sunsets with much color, because we don't have very much pollution - which is what amplifies the color in sunrises/sunsets......along with other atmospheric conditions.......so when there is a colorful one.....it's exciting!
