What, man, I wouldn't have said anything about the wink, my own squashy hamster face barely changes. Not much more than the seriously slight indications you already used, anyway. I'm not much of a winker though, maybe I should wink harder.

Who's the with out ain't friends without nit-picker now, eh?

hey i'v aways wanted to ask in regards to using the computer to draw etc. do you do it just like that or do i sketch it first by hand?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

1B6 In reply to elvinair [2011-03-08 17:01:54 +0000 UTC]

Um, I sketch an outline on one layer then paint on top in a new layer. Sometimes I paint in greyscale than add colour on top of that in an overlay layer if that helps 8)

This is pretty the hair cut is a nice contrast to the orginal like the additional hair clip
great lips aint mentioning the eye as i know you know you aint friends without rhiannon with out nit-picking every bit

To my eye the left shoulder is my fault it's too fuzzy, but right ones fine. I think that maybe sharpening the background a little on the left would have fixed it, i mean the wall or bridge (browny strip) in particular, as i think it's the archway on the right that balances that side out. something to consider next time XDD

the collor just looks wrong and i dont know why

also if im being really picky and feel like buging you, which i am. Its about the concept i know its a drug doing this vision thingy but i would have something to draw back to supposed reality, whether be some thing in the background or an accessory, for example that hair cut on her could have a LSD like on the coker in the orginal.

lol, don't take this picture seriously man, it was an hour's worth of airbrushing to stop me from failing my presentation yesterday for having no fluffy princesses. I appreciate the length of feedback you write though, it's nice when people care enough to comment so thoroughly. It's pretty rare too 8)

I really like this Ailish; great colours and you've really pulled off the dark hair contrasting with the fair skin.

I have to say I agree with Aaron; a bit more clarity (ie: textures and hard edges) on SW would help pull her forwards from the background. Another teeny point about the facial expression; the side of her face on which her eye is closed would contract slightly, pulling her mouth up and giving her cheek more volume under the eye. I learned this the hard way myself, as I tried a winking portrait a while back and failed miserably I'd recommend looking carefully in the mirror and imitating the expression you want. Then you can see all the small details which pull an expression together. Faces are so damned complicated!

With Aaron? Did he comment?

Lol, she did used to have more clarity but I thought it took away from the poofyglowy feeling that I wanted to get so I went over all the edges with a light brush lol. I'm trying to make her look...not really there, like an illusion, which she is because she doesn't look like that the drug just makes you hallucinate it. Asides from giving her soft outlines I couldn't think if a way to do this Maybe I could give her a glowier outline to seperate her more? what do you think? Although...I don't like this enough to invest more time...haha, I hate soft glowy coy chicks.

Lol, to be honest I was aware of that only...inflating the cheek more would mean shifting the mouth more and then altering the nose which...means more time/work/effort lol. It was just for my presentation today and I still had more pieces to do that I can't even post on here because they are so sloppy lol so I scapped facial dimesions because tbh, no one but you and my friend rhiannon would notice lol. But still, have more faith in my facial anatomy skills man! haha~ Can't blame you really, I never post my life sketches here because...they're just sketches lol. It feels sloppy. I can if I need to prove myself to you though ;D

Hah, not that I'm aware of, I just noticed you said a tutor doesn't like soft brushes, and I must have assumed it was Aaron

Right, okay, I see what you're going for and yeah, maaayyybbbe soft brushes are okay for this It does look ephemeral, sort of similar to a dream, where exact details can't really be recalled, just impressions. I'm not sure how a glowy outline would look - possibly worth a try, but since this is just a quickun, I don't think it's all that important.

Fair enough duuddde. Definitely no need to prove yourself, your facial paintings/sketches are always fantastic. I hope your presentation went well!

Hahah, yeah Aaron sure does hate soft brushes. I do think some pics call for them though, there's this artist on here who really rocks a soft brush... like immensely...who is it now...oh yeah, =wakkawa , he does some really soft stuff like [link]

D'awww thanks dude 8) The presentation suuuuucked lol. I won't go into it here though...
