So every time the Romans crucified someone, it just meant that they really loved them so much that they couldn't stand another minute of it and mercilessly tortured the person to death?

Apparently. I really want to know what sick sense of humor christians have for adopting the crucifix, the form of execution their "savior" was brutally killed on, as their symbol? If I was in Jesus' position, I would feel pissed off that my followers did that.

Well, actually it's shaped like a heart. The cross represents how millions of people were killed in the past. (IE nailed to it and tortured.)

John 10:17-18
17 βTherefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.β
