Description “Into the Grid”

pencil and white Acrylic on oak tag board

More conceptual then observatory, this is not as much a change from my portrait work but a path aligned. I complete six to ten of these type of drawings per year, some have inspired oil paintings.

Although I am a “realist” I was always fascinated with abstraction and deconstructive concepts. What will the human species leave behind? I try to bear witness to that magical moment when the next tenant of this planet finds proof of our existence, just as we humans found the fossils of the Arthropods and Vertebrates. This is not a fatalistic view, but a deep respect for the powers of nature (e.g. God) to reclaim and recreate. Of course an interesting design and powerful composition is the key to this type of work.

Thank you

Nimra

Very classy. It looks like a blend of surrealistic/abstract instrument. Like a violin. What I'm interested in these kind of works is what you do these sketchy draw-throughs and strokes and irregulars to make that work in a balance to make it part of the artwork. What do you feel when you construct it? Do you kinda admit to your "what is from inside"?

I've seen it with too. She make sometimes those smudges of coloured lines to make work a fantastic motion. Like it is ultimate freedom and is part of it. These things are making most artwork so much more than just the main concept. This is a part where I'm afraid to do and I know that is where my challenge lies. There are alot "imaginative" and likewise ideas, but that part I can't get that save grip you have with realism.

Deep respect for you to pull that off in such way! It shows a powerful artist to me!

I have paired your deviation with a poem by Joshua Robbins in my journal - [link]

Please let me know if you would rather I didn't include it.

This is quite the nostalgic looking art piece, from the tones and contrasts to the flow. Beautifully presented.

All I'd ever seen was your portraiture, which, while obviously incredible - I'd never been too interested in realism. Granted, yours are a level or twenty-thousand deeper than the average rendering. Anyways, the point is, these make me look at your work in a VERY different perspective.

from "here" on the computer screen, it looks like an eraser was used, to draw [one of ] the oblique grid. the whole looks as if the piece was made of semi transparent layers, and the shadow effect, increase that impression.

interesting you are thinking about how a distent future generation of being would find our own random "layers" left behind to blend with the whole multilayer artwork of life past.

Beautiful piece of work Armin! Even though it is in the abstract form, it somehow reaches out to the eye. The composition of the piece is balanced with perfection. Very nicely done.
