Description My contribution for Artpack 2 for

It is a vector I made of the Palast der Republiek in the former DDR (East Germany). It was constructed in the 1970's as an icon for the communist world but with the fall of the wall and the fact that asbestus was used in the building results in it being out of use since 1990 and scheduled to be demolished in 2005.

Had the poster done for a while but couldn't submit it untill the artpack was released, so go check dagroove ( [link] ) and their artpack ([link] ) out.

Beside the fact that it's spelled "Palast der Republik" I really like your work. Looks great even though I've seen this building many many times in real life. This november they had some art-exhibitions and a concert of the band EinstΓΌrzende Neubauten inside the palast but now it's closed. Demolition is scheduled for this january.

Yeah I saw a documentary about it just before I made this poster. I hope I got most of the years reasonably right, as I wrote them from my memory of the docu. Buildings and infrastructure that has lost its purpose and therefor are neglected interest me for some reason, don't know why.

I tried hard to get the scale as near to reality as possible, not sure if it is. Wish I got to see the building when I was in Berlin last summer, but we didn't get to it

Yeah, you're description is accurate about the dates. Because of the asbestos it's been more a ruin than a building since they removed it in the early nineties. I was inside of it two months ago, just a skeleton of glass, steel and concrete. Also took many photos there. I immediately recognized it as I saw your poster, so you might be quite succesful depicting it. You also did a nice work with the television tower, one of the symbols of Berlin's skyline, which stands some hundreds meters behind the palace. As I said before really nice artwork.

Oh man...this is sooo good dude. It excites me to see how much you have truly developed your skills as an artist. This would make an awesome poster! Keep up the good work my friend.

I love propoganda posters & this looks fantastic! The colours are spot on...everything's very subtle & knocked back...that looks like a CMYK red. You've made all the right decisions...looks great!
