Description
The thing to know about Oscar is that he rarely goes to the whip...he just smooches them all the way down the straight. You can tell by his stance that the race is over, he's already won and he's slowing down but I still loved this shot and every shot before it. He never moves. He just talks to them and kissyfaces them through the whole experience: beginning, race, and end. Almost a year ago to the day, I saw him go down and be crushed in a fall I was certain killed him. But he's a jockey...and they consistently prove to be tougher and more resilient than the hockey players I also work with, which is really saying something because hockey players are something else. I don't know if he was always this way or if the fall changed him and the way he rides, but you can't ignore how much better he's become. To see him again, stronger than ever, and to see him win repeatedly yesterday, well...that made me very happy.
