Tyr may not be the most pleasant person to be around,
neither in personal communication nor as a person with whom people need to work.
The problem is that he's too smart and doesn't forget to boast about it,
thinking that almost everyone around is somehow too goofy anyway and can't see far ahead,
can't even see simple things, in his understanding ofc.
Basically people don't like him for it, eeespecially being subordinate to him
since he holds a fairly high position in the police unit,
so they truly believe he's a self-confident jerk who looks down on everyone.
Despite such a difficult temper, he's still a good-natured person who won't leave others in trouble

Tyr was Vijaya's commanding officer for a while, when she was working in the border troops,
and he was one of few people who somehow cared about her.
Tho he often was enraged by her ill-conceived antics and frequent disobedience
but after all she obeyed him better than the rest,
seeing him as a person to whom she could tell some personal things,
even though (but maybe because) he didn't let her to get him to bed
