Β I'm still engineering this character's aesthetic, even after so many variations; but here's the line art for the most recent incarnation, if you want to have some fun.Β codyrush.deviantart.com/art/Cuβ¦

Β Thanks, man. That means a lot. The whole point of the character was to make her a weapon first, a women second. She doesn't disdain feminine delicacies and distinctions--girly girl pastimes, labels, and affectations--she's just responsible for a king and by extension a kingdom, so everything else inevitably takes a back seat. Like her father before her, she is burdened with glorious purpose, cursed to curse the gods that she only has one life to sacrifice for the kingdom of Ulster.Β
Β Thanks again for the freebie. Finn will go much more smoothly. I promise. You've got a sketch coming your way to explain the basic concept. Sorry for the wait. I lost my USB with all my fekking references, but I've got everything now. We're golden. Β

Sorry sorry for the wait. I've been demolishing an office building for extra cash and my sketching's suffered in consequence; my hands are constantly swollen during the work week. This has been going on for two weeks.
I'll have the basic sketch to you by sunday. For a teaser, the look is...kind of reminiscent of the Rohirrim from LOTR.Β

Β Well, she's from Northern Ireland by way of Ulster. She's wearing a silk tunic, a gown of chain mail and a fur cloak with a La Tene brooch. Sadly we couldn't quite decide on her breast plate. While women in celtic europe were often warriors, like their majoritively male counterparts few could afford armor: sooo, yeah, finding a celtic female breast plate to reference is a bitch.Β
Β Glad you think she's hot. She was modeled after Cinita Dicker, a gorgeous redhead with a very unfortunate name.Β

Β Those are a souvenir from the character wrestling with a giant wolf hound (nine feet standing up). She was slashed in the face and so, in a blood rage, she beat the hound to death with her bare hands. She's immensely strong.Β

Β I'm really excited by everyone's response to her. She's my character.
She doesn't have a name in the story, only a title, Cu-Chulainn (Coo-Kull-lane), Chulainn's Hound, Chulainn being the High King of Ulster. She's his personal guard.
She's based on the hero from the Ulster Cycle of Irish Myths, but I took the very basic premise of that guy and made it my own thing entirely. The story is more inspired by celtic myth period than anything else. Her backstory was inspired by 'Bone', 'Mulan', 'Conan the barbarian' and 'Spartacus'. She was heavily inspired by Princess Mononoke, Tarzan, Eep and Red Sonja. She rides a 12 ft. wolfhound named Effa she raised living in a kennel.Β

Β It wasn't really anyone's fault, it was just a lack of references and money at the time. Really that's what it boiled down to: currently we're collaborating on another character for the same story. The other main character, a young Lord Commander of a mercenary brotherhood, the Fianna.Β
