Description
At first, this was just an attempt to make sense out of one Sagara Sanosuke's hair. It's fascinated and intrigued me for years, and I never feel quite satisfied with most interpretations--how can it occur in nature, without careful time spent styling it?Well, for one, my friend's little sister had the same exact hairdo when she was a baby, which made me that much closer on my quest to understand that hair, but, yeah...
Honestly, I liked Sano a lot more when he was Zanza. Sure, he still had his funny moments, and he had a lot of growing up to do, but it was nice to see him looking after himself, and, well, being a deeper character.
Thus, I had no problem finishing the sketch and making the picture a bit...darker.

I'm glad someone else liked Zanza better than Sano...Sano became a sort of layabout, I preferred it when he stood on his own two feet and was a sort of lone wolf

It's funny, now when I look at it, I see all the flaws, but hey...
I like Sano just fine, too, but I don't think he ever reached his full potential as a character, seeing as the plot tended to focus on Kenshin, Kaoru, and Yahiko. He changed too fast and remained a little too "stable" for my liking, as a result.
If it were a perfect world, Watsuki would write a new series entirely centered around Saitoh and Sano.
