Cillian’s a friendly guy on the whole, albeit on the quiet side. Even though he’s a solitary boar, he is by no means a homebody now that he’s out on his own. Hiking, camping, and working out are usually on this guy’s mind at all times. The Emboar might come off as a bit of a meat-head, or even a little intimidating because of his size and tusks, but his tough hide protects a soft underbelly. Cillian is artistic and expresses himself in subtle ways, most notably through his glasswork. He’s a well tempered boar, just like his craft.
But, Cillian’s demure attitude weakens his will. It’s very easy to wrap this guy around your finger if you’re assertive enough. His passivity creeps into his day to day chores: his living spaces are kindly described as “organized chaos,” and it’s hard for the Emboar to stick with one thing for too long. His many hobbies tend to accumulate over time: from canning, to rock-collecting, to gratuitous origami. Cillian seeks frequent novelty, only to leave it behind when he burns out.
The world moves fast, and it tends to leave Cillian behind. The few constants that stop and stay a while are the ones that the Emboar appreciates, and he will remember them.
History
Content warnings: implications of neglect
It’s hard to stand out when you’re stuck in the middle, and that’s where Cillian sat for most of his life. He was the third of the four Danaher children living in Pastoria, Sinnoh. As the only boy of the bunch, his father Tynan wanted him to become the next “man” of the house. Yet as Cillian grew, Tynan’s attention to him faded. The little Tepig struggled with basic things: homework, chores, and in general, motivation. His lack of focus was mistaken for laziness by his parents, but his oldest sister, Annie, was there to help him catch up. She treated him with a kinder hand than the others in the family, and Cillian clung tightly to her in response. When he wasn’t in school, he was at his sister’s side.
But the eldest sister was always the first to shake things up too, which Cillian disliked. Though he sincerely wished Annie the best, and knew it had to be done, her departure came at a vulnerable time. That little Tepig was a larger Pignite now, and he was in line to start college. However, without Annie’s support, his applications failed to find a mailbox. His other sisters, Bia and Daphne, would soon follow in Annie’s footsteps and leave home for brighter futures and away from the family forge. Yet Cillian continued to lag behind.
Like his older sisters, he didn’t take to the forge naturally, but he was attracted to its fire. It created a little spark that the boar wanted to fan. All he had to do was change the medium through which he worked. That’s how Cillian found glass, along with the gumption to apply to community college. Tynan attempted to voice his complaints, but his wife swiftly put him down. At her mercy, he backed off, and his only son was granted a chance to flourish. To everyone’s shock, Cillian threw himself deep into his studies, either through books or by practice at the glory hole. For the first time in the Pignite’s life, the boy seemed driven.
In the rare moments between lessons, Cillian did some internal digging. A college library held a wealth of information, and the Pignite leveraged both books and his fellow students in an effort to learn more about himself. His hunt led him to a term for how he was feeling, why it was so hard to keep up with others, why they couldn’t keep his attention, and why he always felt left behind. The revelation was kept to himself, but it took shape in his final evolution into an Emboar.
Follow Your Hart
Alas, Cillian did not stick long enough with college to earn a degree, but he walked away with more answers than he thought he’d find. In the small reprieve between dropping out and leaving home, his sisters were beginning to reconcile. Their support encouraged Cillian to take his first steps out of the house and to a place called Harthaven. He was the last Danaher to leave, but it was better late than never.
Just like college, the experience was short lived and educational. The Emboar earned a good, lump sum of money from work and odd jobs, and he made some of his first friends outside the confines of Pastoria while he stayed at the inn. Unfortunately, he struggled with carving out a home for himself, let alone buying a house…distraught, Cillian took the initiative to reach out to Annie and his friends for support. With open arms, they encouraged him to move to Raccolto and try again.
He could, and would, always try again.
Ability: Reckless. Cillian doesn’t reflect his family’s temper in his attitude, so it comes out in his ability. Riskier moves that deal recoil damage hit harder.
Moveset: Cillan tries to avoid fighting, but when it comes down to it, he can throw his weight around.
- Burn Up. Most often used when Cillian works too hard. For a few days afterwards, he’s no longer a fire type.
- Head Smash. Only for the rarest of circumstances, Cillian delivers a wicked blow to the head with his own, tough skull.
- Superpower. Less of an attack for Cillian and more of a last resort, used for very heavy lifting and usually in emergency situations.
- Odor Sleuth. Good for finding truffles!

- Roller Derby. Introduced to him by his sister Annie, this one seems to be sticking. He likes how active it is.
- Archery. Another hobby that’s sticking - he’s not a bad hunter!

- Card Collecting. When he’s on a kick, get ready for 3 months of this and nothing else.
- Rhythm Games. They’ve just got great tracks to work to!
- Origami. Folds small paper stars when he feels fidgety, and keeps a jar of them.
- BIG Big Legend of Zelda fan. Started with Ocarina of Time and kept up since.
- On hikes, Cillian takes a shovel with him. He’s had it since he graduated high school, and he says that a shovel is much more useful than it looks.
- Cillian has a Gracidea tattooed on his right knee. He got it with his sisters to represent their home in Sinnoh.
- The flames around his neck are mostly for show. Cillian has complete control over his body temperature.
