Personality
They’re clothes are louder than they are.
Quiet and cold, the Octoling is always looking down at their phone. Oola really isn’t one for conversation, and any dialogue with them is short lived and somewhat unfulfilling. Beyond their constant bad jokes, Oola doesn’t display much emotion or passion. However, come Splatfest, you’ll find a more vicious and salty Octoling has emerged from under their bridge.They seem to be at their happiest when they’re throwing shade at the opposing team and getting that wonderful Splatfest saltiness thrown back at them. Perhaps Oola’s most controversial trait is that they’re a peruser of memes. Don’t get too close; if given the chance they will expose you to their collection.
All that salt isn’t one sided. Oola doesn’t mind throwing out some self-deprecating humor, for several reasons, but the biggest being that they like to keep the playing field even. Oola may be savage, but they aren’t a bully. Cephalopods who can tolerate their company long enough will find that Oola has taken note of this loyalty, and that loyalty is returned. To friends, Oola is frugal, warm, and expressive. Oola’s also willing to share more about their personal life. Conversations become deeper and heartfelt, revealing that Oola may be this way because they’ve never had the chance to practice socializing most of their life.

Socializing has proven to be a challenge for Oola...but they think they might be getting the hang of it. Having friends to worry about means getting to show a maternal, if not neurotic side to themselves. Even if they can't show it, they do value the little company they have.

History
Oola got their humble start in Octo Valley, the only child to a basic nuclear Octo family. Dad was a programmer while mom stayed at home to take care of little, frail Oola. The Octoling was kept indoors often, away from unsanctioned turf wars between Inklings and Octarians that could happen just outside their own house. So instead Oola learned to live through Splatnet, starting with a live showing of the Squid Sisters. From that point on, Oola was plugged in.

As a legal adult, Oola was granted a lot more autonomy, which they used to frequent Rio Tokiyaki as often as they could. The commute they took was incredibly difficult, but always worth it. While they were there, Oola crammed in everything they could: turf wars, temp work, shopping, and anything else they could manage. At the end of the day, they’d shuffle onto the train and head home, taking the next day to sleep. The Octoling’s not sure how long they can keep the routine up, but until they find a steady job and a cheap place to live, they’re willing to put up with it.

Survive. Overcome. Adapt.
They're still a chump when it comes to turf wars and finding a steady job has been slow going, but they're doing a lot better than they thought they ever would. Oola managed to find some strange but similar company in the form of what they call "Space Squad," their official splat squad and team. Still, it's a hard commitment and they're thinking if they really want to be a part of this whole thing, they need to move into the city.

Hobbies
Memes. Oola doesn’t get enough sun. They stay in and browse splatnet all the time.
Avid turf war participant. Maybe one day they’ll be the best try-hard casual out there.
Mastered the trombone, working on mastering the saxophone, and plans to master the bassoon next.

Joined a cryptid club! They've taken the codename Mothman
Started feeding some nearby pigeons. There's a regular that's taken a shine to them.
