“Are you sure you want to continue?” The question was still in my head. No more than a few minutes could have passed since Arctic had actually said it, but the question seemed to have been running through my mind for hours. I knew that I wanted to help out Arctic, my friend, not the fox that was doing this to me, but would this really help him? I didn’t know. With all the pain, it was too difficult to think clearly, but I finally managed to muster the strength to speak.

“Y-yes, I’d do anything to help him…” I replied. It was the truth. Despite hurting so much and even knowing how or if this would really help him, I would do it. No matter the pain, I’d go through it for him because I knew it’d be worth it to do so for him. That’s what true friends did for each other. Just then Arctic the fox answered back to what I said.

“If that is what you wish…” I heard him say. My eyes were closed and I couldn’t see him, but I felt something different in the room. It felt as if he or his presence had gotten closer to me.

“You see,” he continued, “all I do is make desires become a reality. This way you’ll be able to help your friend out and be able to experience… well this!” Just then I felt a tremendous amount of pressure in my chest. I couldn’t help but jolt up from the feeling. I screamed as my shirt violently burst apart right before my eyes. My eyes were only open briefly due to the shock of the pain, but I saw that Arctic’s tail was in front of me possibly the reason why my shirt tore into pieces. My bare chest was now exposed to the new air, but something felt different. It wasn’t fully naked there was something covering my chest. Was it fur? As crazy and surreal as everything was, that was what made the most sense in this situation. I had paws and now I was growing fur…

“Sure it’s just a tad bit painful,” I heard Arctic speak again, “but it’ll be worth it all in the end. There is just one thing I should warn you about though…” I began to fall forward again seeking relief from the pain that had just happened. My eyes were shut again, but I could feel my shirt falling off of me into shreds. It felt like Arctic’s tail was taking care of removing that fully off of my body.

“There will be physical, mental, and emotional pain along the way. If you’re not careful you just might lose yourself. You’re going to have to endure much more if you’re going to succeed. This is just the beginning…” I didn’t know how much more pain there would be, and how much more I could take of it. Whatever the cost was though, I was willing to pay it. Lose myself?... The stakes seemed to raise horribly high as I heard that. Could that really happen? What if it did? Would I remember anything? Would I even know Arctic?... Would he even… I didn’t know. My body was in a wreck and so was my mind. Nothing was making sense. Everything was just distracting me from a twitch coming and from what was coming next.

Hmm things look a little more serious this time around. What's coming next for me? Will I be able to handle it or will I lose myself?
