Ah, with feeling out of depth commenting on certain kinds of work, I think it would be best to feel comfortable, and not out of depth, commenting on works you are familiar with. The more you can pinpoint what's wrong with something because you're commenting on what's familiar, the more you'll be able to do the same to unfamiliar works as you build your experience, knowledge, articulation skills, etc.
As you rightly said, it's difficult to know how to suggest improvement if you don't know what, in particular, needs improving.
Your suggestion makes sense to me! It would help (and it's only good marketing sense) to include links at the bottom of the journal leading to other articles.
Thank you!

I really want to try this, but I'm stumped, some people say I was a very subjective one to comment whereas they also asked me for my opinion to their arts. How I should be able to be objective?

I use this tutorial whenever I give a constructive comment, but there is a problem that I run into once in a while. Sometimes I see a piece of art where I cannot find anything wrong with it. What do I do then?

If you cannot find anything wrong with a piece, that is fair enough. It is better to not be nit-picky, trying to find something wrong where there isn't anything wrong (in your eyes).
I would say that you could still offer alternatives for the artist to consider. Perhaps the artist doesn't have to improve, but they could consider different concepts, ideas, etc. that could make their work more interesting, or better... if that makes sense?
Otherwise, a person can still write a constructive comment using just praise:
Comment Support Group #3 - Constructive PraiseIntro
My name is _______ and I am a commenter…
Well, of course you are! If you are reading this, more than likely you are a commenter, and what commenter doesn't have concerns, problems, issues or more with commenting?
That is why ProjectComment has formed a Comment Support Group to help people with commenting. To be utterly honest, we can't improve your commenting skills for you, but we can help you improve only if you want to improve.
Both commenting and improvement are individual processes. It's up to you to become a better commenter, but that doesn't mean you have to go it alone!
We are here to foster a group where commenters feel safe, where commenters feel they have the right to share their thoughts, feelings and more about commenting, where commenters have the right to open up, seek advice and get the support they deserve.
None of us are here to make fun or criticize. We are here to encourage commen

Why use praise?
Sometimes, one may think there aren’t “praise-worthy” elements in a piece, so only flaws are mentioned.
Praise can be used to create balance in your comment, thus showing the artist that the piece isn't “all bad”, even if the artist still has a long way to go before becoming, artistica

Do we constructively comment on deviant's works specifically in this group or outside the group too? I've read the ProjectComment Information page several times, but I'm a little stumped on how to start. This may actually be due to the fact that I'm exhausted and functioning at 11% capacity but I think it would help me understand a little better if I could be nudged into a specific place to start off. Thanks for the help and the explanatory article. It is much easier to understand how to write the constructive comments now!

If you would like to submit to our gallery, please comment on pieces in our gallery, though all comments should be given on deviant's works within the group (i.e. members' art).
Not sure if you've seen this?

Thank you so much for this helpful article, one thing i strive for is constructive criticism and considering English is not my first language this is a even more interesting challenge for me. After a bad encounter with someone who acted rudely under one of my work i realised the importance to give criticism, feedback and critical thought. That experience was manna from heaven because i started informing about critiques and comments and today i was invited in this wonderful Group, thank you! I do not only want to improve as artist but also as commenter!

Thank you. Don't worry i am thankful to that person because without that encounter i wouldn't start studying and exploring critique, constructive criticism, critical thought, feedback etc. and so i wouldn't meet this awesome Group.

Attuned - Chapter 2 RewriteChapter Two
Seeing Michael
As Michael and I sat down at Mr. and Mrs. Grattan's Tea shop, as secluded as we could be, I became an onlooker to the other patrons, although I felt like some of them were watching me. It made me feel uneasy. I had to look away when the tea arrived, and focusing on my tea made me feel oddly better.
“So how long will you be staying?” I probed. If he wanted me to start being part of his life again, he would need to give me a good reason, I figured. But for now I decided to watch what I did or said. I didn't know if he was back permanently, or just visiting and ready to tear down the wall I had built over my heart to protect against him, only to break me again.
For better or worse; I wasn't sure if this was a good idea
