I don't suppose you've heard of the (practically ancient) anime Legend of Galactic Heroes?
That was what I was referencing.

The main antagonist (GLaDOS) is a super computer made of a number of cores and runs experiments for Aperture science where the protagonist acts as a test subject.
Some of the cores have glitches or are poorly programmed. The yellow, space obsessed, core is found in the room of the final battle and is thrilled when it finally gets there.

... watch the vid to get a better (and funnier) picture (though there is a little spoiler):

The game is really good and I highly recommend it.

It looks like an interesting game but I would watch LPs instead, I don't own any next gen console and would not consider up grading my computer.

AshDarkside In reply to 4-X-S [2014-11-26 06:37:55 +0000 UTC]

Portal one is pretty old (7 years old), I doubt your PC wouldn't run it. And even portal 2 isn't next gen (3 years old).
And I highly recommend against watching LP for this games since the AI is relatively reactive to your actions (if memory serves right). And it is a puzzle game, not much fun watching those.

More like a two light source practice. I did not use much color because I was learning how to use them, now I can use more color than before.

4-X-S In reply to KevKoe [2014-11-21 16:09:40 +0000 UTC]

I think instead of color it bring up a different topic, layer masks. Life can be much easier with layer mask.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KevKoe In reply to 4-X-S [2014-11-22 00:53:04 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, i usually just make a blank silhouette of what i'm about to render, then make it as a mask, the rest, i would paint normally on single layer or two if i have the need to use decals and stuff. This is not to be done if you're on a job for a client though, separating stuff in several layers is a must. And i mostly use freehand, no pen tools, some (hold shift) lines when making direct straight lines.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

4-X-S In reply to KevKoe [2014-11-22 01:07:43 +0000 UTC]

I used the silhouette idea for sometime, and its just too much switch around for a simple shading, imagine you have 50+ layers and each silhouette require its own layer and you have to switch to the drawing layer every time. What I do is to have single silhouette of entire object and use eraser to clean up, I was not formally trained in art so I didn't knew about the mask layer. And I too never used the pen tool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KevKoe In reply to 4-X-S [2014-11-22 08:33:53 +0000 UTC]

exactly what i meant, i use single silhouette for single object, the rest no matter how much, if it was not the main focus, i will combine them into one layer and one silhouette. I am also self taught artist, i did not take any kind of course. Google it, there are tons of tutorials out there, and layer masking, to be honest, usually they are used in post production stuff. Also, use pen tool for your silhouette if it requires precision.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

4-X-S In reply to KevKoe [2014-11-22 20:35:17 +0000 UTC]

I think layer mask is quite convenient for shading a constrained region that has complex border. I never figured out what pen tool is about, I use polygon lossal instead.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KevKoe In reply to 4-X-S [2014-11-23 03:34:37 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if you ever think of using google to search for the tutorials, that's the most basic tool in photoshop. www.melissaevans.com/tutorials…

4-X-S In reply to KevKoe [2014-11-25 22:27:26 +0000 UTC]

So pen tool is to make a selection? For complex shapes.

not just that, to give outline, to fill a shape, add/remove selection, etc.

you have no idea, well when you have aliens, or demons, or anything not human it's not a problem because Β you live it to your imagination but human's skin it's totally different. for me, i'm too light or too dark it's not easy to find the good one.
