You've done beautifully. I understand about drawing from photographs...it ain't easy either. Charcoal isn't an easy medium either.

I think drawing from photo isn't hard if you don't pick on little details, there are several things that charcoal does easier than other medium.

Yes, it covers a larger area more easily and gives you beautiful mid tones and stark blacks. Well, that's what I experienced. Luv n hugs to ya!

Charcoal is the most convenient traditional medium, everything else, digital can do better.

Digital can replace all other traditional medium except charcoal.
