Description Entry for MangoMendoza 's contest: fav.me/dd2mke6
Task: make a deity and create a mythology around them.

Here there's an attempt with some color if you're interested:

sta.sh/0nxah42i6lw

I decided the the best deity for me was one about total eternal indecision and waste of time.

Anyway, the piece is pretty horrible tbh, 'cause I didn't dedicate it enough time; but I wanted to post it anyway. I did my best with the mythology, which's is pretty long so stop reading now if you're not interested in it. If you are, and have questions after the lecture, feel free to ask.

OREZIA

The youngest talaride ever to acquire the title of deity in the Talarii pantheon, chosen to guard time.

About Orezia becoming a goddess, and about the passing of time

[From History of Creators, Constructs and Creation]
[…] And so it was that O-Febru, the biggest for ingenuity among the Talarii, created time. With his capable and tireless hands, he overcame O-Niniva’s challenge, and created that which didn’t exist, giving it a shape and a size to what has none of them. All the gods congratulated him and drew near to observe the creation throught the shrine glass.
However O-Dirmos, highest father of every construct, saw the power of this new creation, and forsaw the possible dangers. Therefore he, wisely, said that time belongs to Talarii by right, since O-Febru created it, and he also deliberated that time have to be guarded and kept safe, to deeply study its potentiality and limits and not to be used to cause damage or suffering to Talarii or to the rest of Creation. Not all Talarii agreed with O-Dirmos’s words, and, as usual for Talarii, they started discussing if time should be considered a Talarii property or if instead it should be left free into Creation. Terefore it was decided that it was necessarity study more the new creation before any decision about its destiny.
They then choose a maid named Rezia, who till then had taken care of the little birds which gladden the splendid gardens of Oos. She was young, faithful and trustworthy, that’s why she what choosen to watch over time, so that no one could come near it until Talarii discussion had come to a decision. O-Dirmos was relieved by the choice, because he knew that Rezia was dutiful and in this way time would remain under Talarii custody.
And so O-Rezia took her title. She diligently and silently performed the task given, watching over time just like she did with thee birds, without ever taking her eyes from the shrine, to not disappoint her higher cousins, while the rest of Talarii, relieved to have found such a good guardian, started the big discussion over time, which still persists today, and that has taken the two parts to agree only over the eletion of O-Rezia as guardian of time.

But only Talarii have infinite patience. E’Maur, annoyeed by the protracting of the discussion, decided to act following his own judgment, sure that time needed to be release fre into Creation, because it was not only of the highests but of everyone and everything, therefore its power was to be equally assigned to all createds and creators. So he snuck where O-Rezia was doing her watch, and she was happy for once to at least have a conversation with someone while, with no interruption, looking at the shrine. If only she had taken her eyes off for just a moment, she could have read E’Maur intentions into his eyes! Instead, before she could stop him, E’Maur stroke with force the glass, sure to have succeeeded in his attempt. But O-Febru’s contructs are made to last, and not even E’Maur, greater between the createds, can alter them that easily. And yet, with his action E’Maur managed to split the shrine and time started to spill outside, in a small but incessant flow.
Horrified with what happened, O-Rezia immediately set up a barrier and that throw E’Maur miles away. But the damage was done.
The leak of time was pronto felt by creators and createds, and everyone perceived an inexplicable but deep change. In particulair the latecomer constructs were affected by it, and in that group there were the humans who E’Maur loves so much.
Talarii ran straight to O-Rezia to try to remedy what had happened, but to no avail: her barrier keep everything and everyone away. Frantic and helpless, they put their best warrior to protect the barrier against any other attempt to interfere with time, and to prontly warn them in case the barrier had disappeared. After this, many left Oos, disturbed by the touch of time which, even if on the outside have caused very few changes, on the inside had hit something in every one of the Talarii.

O-Rezia, destroyed from having failed her task, isolated herself behind the barrier, away from the rest of Creation, and remained alone watching the flow of time, eternally undecided about what might be the better act for Creation: if to conclude E’Maur work and release all time, or if to repair the damage and imrpison again the construct into the shrine as it was at the beginning.

Orezia worship

[From The Talarii: rituals and celebrations, by S. Kalisperham]
O-Rezia, or Orezia as the common people call her, is counted in the numer of most loved and celebrated gods of all. There is no city in the Sulicide region without at least a sanctuary dedicated to her name, and rarely these are with no person intent on praying. There must always be a statue of Orezia strictly facing backwards, with usually the hands or a veil covering the face, represented watching the flow of time (depicted often with a flow of water or sand that courses without interruption).
Only ecception is the statue in the capital shrine, Mebelia, where the clergy agreed that, once a year, the statue is turned to face the bystanders (however always with its face covered) to give the people the illusion that, for one day, the goddess turns away from her task to listen to worshippers pleas, who beg her to finally make a decision: to release time or to stop its leak (depending on what each of them think it would be the better soluion).
It is not uncommon to spot in the crowd followers of E’Maur cult, who ask for forgiveness to the goddess for what the created did to her, act that he had come to regret with time.
Prayers are often accompanied with flowers and little  birds, both dear to the goddess in the hope that they could drawn her attention and make her listen to their requests. It’s not uncommon to see messages and small pieces of paper tied to the birds legs, in the hope they could reach Orezia beyond her barrier, since she, some say inconsciously, let them through the barrier, aslo because sometimes the birds take back to the shrine small fragments of time that didn’t merge with Creation. For this reason, in some groups of the population has taken place the idea that this might solve the time problem, so the give to the birds grain of orzala (since it’s the plant with the biggest grains of all) to be taken to the shrine and fill its fissure, stopping the leak of time. However they’re just worthless suppositions, because no one knows how big is really the damage of the shrine, except for E’Maur (and he has vanished without a trace); also, many say that birds could just eat the grains, therefore the whole thing is simply a wast of time.
Opponents of Orezia worship mock her believers saying that wasting tie is actually the best way to celebrate a goddess that waste time, however the highest between the philosophers affirm that that is indeed the better solution for Orezia worship, since to watch the passing of time is theclosest thing to the actual condition of the goddess herself.

The tale of the two curious and the statue:

Two youngsters, eager to finally see for once the face of Orezia statue in Eeredi shrine, one day they decided to sneak into the temple at nightfall, during one of the rare closing days. Once inside the sanctuary, they approach the statue and go around it to take a look at the visage but, oh! it was all for nothing: because, no matter how much they try, the statues keeps giving them its shoulders. Determined to conclude what they have started, they go around the statue quicker and quicker, trying to gaze its face once for all.
It was only one hour later that a priest finally entered the temple, attarcted by the din coming from within. And there, between all the unsettled birds, he found one of the youngster, with and horrible expression of terror carved upon his face. With difficulty, the priests managed to have a description of what happened: the two had kept going around the statue for what they thought were days, never stopping, and when they fainally reached the statue face, its view threw him in that state; he didn’t remember what he had seen to experience such terror nor he could tell what happened to his friend, and he has not been heard from since.

Expression, figures of speach:
To go Orezia = to waste time, to make time pass
Don’t bother Orezia, don’t look under Orezia’s veil = let go, don’t pass the limit
Orezia! = what a waste (of time)
If it’s Orezia’s will = (if) someone takes a decision

If you've read so far:
- why a deity with human shape: greek, latin and those kind of pantheons choice, meaning that kind of deities that are exactly like human, just super.
- why time: deities are abstracts created by us, to explain something; I wanted to go philosophical with her, but at the end I cut the most of it out from the dscription, didn't want to make it too long, or too boring for the occasional readers
-why when she's worshipped: 'cause deities are well represented only in two occasion, doing what they're known to do/showing off, or when worshipped. Whent with the second option because I thought it would be a better representation (also, all the question they exist throught our prayers and memories (American Gods book anyone?) --> the more linked to humans the better for me, in this case)

Thanks for coming so far, for you how read all of this (:

It is, but don't tease her she's terribly sensitive! (Just kidding)

To save you time, deities invent time, take a random one of them to guard it but she does a poor job and now time keeps leaking out of its shrine; therefore she closes any access to the time room and remains watching the disaster, eternally uncertain if it's better to stop the leak or completely free the time.
I just wanted to play with the idea of a divinity as a waste of time. I mean, she's terrible at her job, not because time escaped but because after the fact she did nothing to solve the situation in a way or another. So she's literally a deity who does nothing but she's still worshipped, even if the worshipping itself is a waste of time 'cause she'll never take a decision.

There's a nice parallel there between her and her worshippers. I like this idea a lot.

Absolutely!!

First off, the concept. I've never seen anything quite like this deity, and while this does add quite a bit to it, I definitely can't overlook your masterful use of technique. The lines are elegant, confident, and graceful, which is def something that takes years to get a hang of, and you've got it down! The pose for the deity is really good-- she's standing, but it doesn't feel stiff or anything. I could totally see it as an actual sculpture, the kind you'd find in a museum! And...can we talk about the detail? You've got this way of making the piece really detailed, without it coming off as busy or overcrowded. I adore that.

I think this might be my favorite piece of yours!

Oh my, thanks a lot for this comment! I didn't expect it when I asked, I seriously appreciate so much the fact that you took the time to put it down! <3

I don't find the lineto be really confident, however I'm relieved to know that it looks like that to you. Same goes for the details, I was afraid they might weigh down the scene or distract.

Again, thank you so much for the comment

It's flat and ffrontal, pretty much static, not particularly original and without colors. Have you seen the other entries? a pair is really nicely done.
Mine can step out maybe for the mythology created, however too less people read description (or walls of text lol), so few will pay any attention to it.
Ah, the title should have been changed, I invented it for her detractors, tho at the end had nothing better to use so yeah
Thanks! I liked the idea of creating something absolutely useless (lol), she wasn't my first option but I really loved the idea of a god that does nothing, eternally undecided, and where even the act of praying it is therefore a waste of timme (and the wasting of time is a prayer to it)

It's a pretty good entry!

I forgot to link the contest about the shadow dragon design! Here it is:

Contest: character redesign (main prize = $)I had promised this a long time ago so here it is. I still need one character redesign to get the comic started.
My main character for the comic is my grumpy noodle Sentra. Besides her regular dragon form she will also have a shadow form again.
But her shadow form is very outdated so I am holding a contest to find a new design for her shadow form. Examples of her old shadow form can be found in the My Characters folder and also art of her current dragon design.
This contest will be open until the 22nd of September 2019 (22/09/2019). This is to make sure everyone has enough time to work on a design.
Feel free to share this journal with others. Since the more people join, the higher the money and art prizes will get.

There is now a whal-ish creature in a big cloud, above fields on the wall. (Heeh, not so terribly creative, with all the various fish-like creatures-in-the-sky pictures now.)

I found a contest - I mean, "real life" contest - for acrylics, that's the plan for tomorrow. The theme is Flora and fauna.

I only assume that it is more about realistic pictures. It says:

Topic: Flora and Fauna. Whether it's still life, landscape, life, oil or acrylic techniques, or a combination of the two, the point is to make sure the theme is there. There are two categories: amateur and professional.

Wow, simply love the animations you linked! My sis and me are doing this week a Miyazaki-marathon; one movie each evening.

Do you already have an idea for the subject you want to paint?

What a wonderful program!! I'd love to do it too, unfortunately part of my Ghibli collection had been ruined last time I lent it, now it's difficult to watch them ;-;
How do you watch them: dub or original voices?

In italian, some of the Ghibli's movies received an ugly adaptation therefore it's less painful to lwatch with other dubs or in original. It's a problem that involve the majority of the Ghibli's movies, actually, tho the most interested are especially the last released ones. It's all fault of the adaptator, he's pretty infamous here because of how he works. He doesn't respect our linguistics rules, uses obsolete and archaic phrases and words (literally fro first years of XX century) and translate word by word not considering the contest of the adaptation (like, with Princess Mononoke, we have two relased version: the oldest one, the deer spirit was calle God of the Forest, however in the newest released version it had been changed to God Beast; now, in english it may not sound bad, but in Italy God beast, specifically 'Dio Bestia', is pretty much too close to a blasphemy :/ Parents with children exited the theater hearing it).
All of this has recently come out again because the same adaptor was involved in the re-releasing of Neogenesis Evangelion series, and his job was so terrible that Netflix took the dubbed series down, saying it would be readapted again. What makes me angry is that he worked on the Ghibli's movies adaptation for like 12 years, and nobody cared; however, when he did wrong with an anime series last month, the Evangelion fans managed to get what they wanted. So yeah, Ghibli fans are quite pissed off, and we fear he will be let free to also ruin the last movies that Ghibli is going to release -_-

We watch them all in Japanese, except for Howl here we really like the English version.

I am very sorry to hear that about your dub company. Part of it is hard to comprehend (the exiting the cinema - probaby because the culture aroubnd here really isn't that strict about religion), however, it seems the sheer quality of the dub would have been enough to ruin it so much that one would just want to leave.

We did not dare try the Hungarian dubs, to be honest. Fingers crossed that Italy may get a well-dubbed, beautiful version of Ghibli movies yet!

We also include a non-Miyazaki film - Only Yesterday. The part about "periods"was dragged a bit long for our taste, but we love everything else about the movie.

Also, it is very interesting to hear about all this; my sister just finished university, in linguistics as a translator. I am betting a monkey she will love reading about this!

I like a lot italian voices (may be a bias, since I saw many in my own language the first time), but the original voices are also nice (I love those of Totoro characters!).

I instead comprehend too well it: if a translation sound too much like a 'fuck you' you don't use it, especially when there's plenty of other possibilities, for example God Beast could have been translate with Divine Beast (even God Animal could be better than God Beast; still a bit bad, but better than God Beast); otherwise you might alienate a part of the public to that masterpiece, and they'll never watch anything more from that studio again. (For an extreme example: if in a language they greet each other saying 'Your mother is a bitch' when you translate and adapt it in your language you don't have the characters say in your language 'Your mother is a bitch' since it's an insult in your culture, but they'll intead say 'Nice to meet you' or similar).  The problem is all with that adaptor, the voice actors are awesome at their job and he's just lucky to work with them; without their good work much more of that horrible adaptation could have resulted in a terrible experience, instead much of the opera or even the majority of it is at minimum okay. Nobody can understand why they work with him, tbh.
In all honesty, he knows a lot about Japan and its culture, but he's better as an advisor, since he know many hues of that culture. Like, what the exact sentiment into a phrase or a word, so that you then know how to better render it into your own language.

Want to laugh? Till this summer I know pretty few of this man, I just didn't like his work; I just accepted as it was, even if it sounded strange or stupid or horrible. But, after the Neongenesis adaptation, he was convinced to join few livestreams on youtube and there I rerally started to hate him with passion: because he's been shown to be a snob, incompetent as a chief project, it's impossible to understand why he does this (he said he does not do it for the public, neither for the opera, neither for himself...wtf??), has double standards on everything (like he said 'I value the authour's message and story and his opera' but also said 'I translate it because yes', even if his adaptation ruin or does not transmit the original message), his ego is incredible....I could go on and on about this person, but I starting to feel again angry with him just writing this down >-<
Does not count for his work, but have emerged some personal details about him and his believes which are simply awful and disgusting. I'm about to drop words that I don't feel comfortable with their use against someone, but he appears to be a misogynist, borderland fascist and borderland pedophile. This shines through some old messages he wrote on forums some years ago; and it's not like, he was young, it may be a misunderstainding or something similiair. It's litterality what appair, it's impossible to excuse his affeermations. They are old (2007-2012 period), but he was already in his 30s and he does not look to have change. This last affermation is more like an sensation, since there're are no more recent proves or claims (could have been gone in the wind, stay under radar with such kind of ideas) but from his behaviour and words during the livestreams he still looks a misogynist so I can guess the rest is more or less unchanged.
So no I hate him as a professional worker because of his terrible job, he disgustes me as a person because of his statements, but I recognize him to have a lot of knowledge about japanese culture (or at least he is very passionated about the argument).
Sorry for the rant

Yeah, fingers crossed, tho it might take a while XD In the meantime, everybody with Japanese versions! ^^

Oh, I love that movie and in general Takahata works! His filmography is often overlooked in favor of Miyazaki's one, which is a bit a pity: Miyazaki is spectaculairly beautiful and impressive, Takahata has more attention for simple things and all daily life. Have you seen other of his works, like Pom Poko, My neighbors the Yamadas or Princess Kaguya?
Don't remember that part to be too long, usually people complain about the pineapple (don't ask me why tho).
After Miyazaki maratone, do you think to go with other ones? can suggest few if you want! òuò)/

Oh, haha! Read this after my rant, I considered to go back and rewrite everything lol. But decided to not do it 'cause I'm tired and I really think everything I wrote, at the actual statee of things.
Well, to make you both laugh (maybe), know that he's so memed here that people made compilations with the "best pearls" of his adaptations, and someone also realised a trailer in this adaptor "style" both for the movie Your Name and the movie A silent voice: they really contain the essence of his way of working. I would link them to you, however since they're in italian I imagine you would not understand them (:

Yay finally a little time to answer more properly!

We used to have great voices in Hungary - so great that they managed to turn The Smurfs into something excessively enjoyable (when listening to it in any other languages we found "oh my, this show isn't actually that sophisticated").
We still have some good ones, but - might be because of nostalgia - the level has significantly dropped. There are a couple voices I could scream at.

Of course one has to take into consideration how the information to be conveyed is expressed in the culture the information is conveyed into. My sister, now a translator, had so, so many lections about this; I deeply agree that if God Beast sounds insulting in Italian then it should NOT be used at all, a more appropriate name would have been easy to find it seems.
(It is rather, that not having got to know the culture and the language properly, it is difficult for me to perceive why God Beast is worse than God Animal).

Seems like this person simply does not care about his job at all. The rest, well, not exactly adding to his character. I wonder how he holds that monopoly; lack of interest by anyone else?
Is there no room at all for voice actors to hand out constructive criticism? They must have felt too that God Beast would not go well in Italy.

We started Pom Poko with my sister, however, that one did not captivate us that much, however definitely checking out the other two!
The pineapple we could very much relate to. It must have been an unripe pineapple in the movie.

Now you make me want to ear how the Smurfs sounds in Hungarian, will look for clips on yt
I can understand you nostalgia argument, here too it seems voices will never be as good as in the past; partially a bias, tho indeed quality has been a little dropped.

To be honest, my example was incorrect, since even God Animal does not sound right; however, since it's less used as an invective, it's less offensive than God Beast. Think about insults or bad words, the frequency of their use determines how it sounds to your ears ...I don't know if it's clearer now?Probably not ^^''
It's just something cultural, I guess, like the use of 'bloody' in english, which is considered vulgar and offensive today but wasn't in previous centuries. I guess you could give me similar examples from your own language, words or constructions that are ok there but not abroad and vice versa.

I honestly don't know how he still manage to have this job. And after his statements in those livestreams I wish he will never receive a contract again. Tho I know that it's a very close work space, where few (people and families) have more power and influence; it's lot about connections and nepotism (in the broad sense of the term) but I really know very little about this world, since, till a pair of years ago, I wasn't interested into it.
I don't know how much power the voices actors have in the whole question, tho I guess it's not really much To their credit, everytime that they had to say Go Beast you can hear that they tried their best to highlight just the word 'God' so that it would not sound too offensive (like in music, when you enphasize some notes and not others, to narrate a story through the sound) unfortunatelly it does not work entirely so it still sounds invective.

Oh no! Why so, in your opinion?
I find Pom Poko, other than a critique to urbanization and an environmentalism message, quite nostalgic; I like a lot the change of style to represent the tanuki (realistic cartoonish and stylized).
Want to know what do you think of the other two if you'll see them ^^

The Papa Smurf was voiced by Sinkovits Imre (he is able to turn mediocre movies into great childhood memories - he also voiced Draco from Dragonheart and made it wonderful).

A more contemporary voice I loved was from a horrid, horrid movie adaptation of Beauty and the Beast from 2014. The Beast was played by Vincent Cassel (just wikied up), Hungarian voice by László Zsolt.

(Link for an example of the voice: youtu.be/Nbou-d6lDto?t=2198 )

This may be a good chance to find out if we like similar voice; do you have any favourite names?

We had no idea why Pom Poko did not capture us, honestly. I think we will give it another try, too.

Princess Kaguya and Yamadas are to be watched next weekend!

I know that Beauty and the beast movie! XD My sis like it a lot, even if she recognizes that there are things that do not work; I personally find it ok, not a fav but has interesting elements at time (tho the strange dogs are simply too strange, and soe of the costumes are too theatrical for me; ah, and I really hate the fountain in the room, it's cheap, could have been done better). The beast version is interesting tho, even if it's mostly just a lion.
I like the voice of the beast in your version! it's deep (veeeery deep!), and somewhat roaring. Too bad that I don't understand it

A lot, probably too many to write all down
Like, in general Ghibli movies recieved beautiful voices, so I just gonna say every voice actors into them is very good. Then, I don't know, maybe Ade from Hercules (voice: Massimo Venturiello)  www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_tlPN…; Clopin from the Hunchback (voice: Carlo Ragone, both for dialogues and song), but actually all the voice cast of the movie is great <3, tho Ragone was simply awesome with the singing part  www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOrDsG… ( just hear how much he stay on the last note of the song!); Roberto Pedicini, for Gaston (Beauty and the beast), Hopper (A bug's life) and more  www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCxRbu… ; Massimo Corvo for Jafar, the Beast, Shan-Yu, Marco in Porco Rosso, Fujimoto  in Ponyo...  www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYRSti… ; Massimo Lodolo  Sarousch (Hunchback 2) Lord Shen(Kung Fu Panda 2), but he especially dub a lot of movie actors youtu.be/RlIARDyugd8?t=50 ; Loris Loddi for many movies with Cillian Murphy, I especially like him in Red Eye but cannot find a clip for it, just the trailer :/
See? too many, and the list can go on and on Sorry for the links, they're not the best

Just replying shortly (I will write up something proper tomorrow to your lovely rant; but I worked for my Dad today on the computer and it's almot 1 in the morning and my eyes are sore and yaaaawn...)

1. We would definitely love suggestions!

2. I learnt Italian in secondary school, took a "middle stage" statal language exam. Much of it is forgotten, sadly, but surprisingly, more of it remains than justified after not having used it.

Soooo... you can link Italian videos.

Replying here for stuff to suggest and for the italian videos!

Really, you learn Italian?! O:
May I ask you why this, and not like french or another language?

So, original italian stuff!
- Original adaptations, from the Ghibli movies:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=eILaEq… &  www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivIWCt…
- Here a facebook page that collects the "best" of the adaptator works, both Ghibli and Neongenesis Evangelion; it's a text format so it might be easier than the spoken version:  www.facebook.com/Gli-sconcerta…
- trailers inspired by his work, for A silent voice and Your Name:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUCgJZ… streamable.com/4x2ez
- Original adaptation, from the Neongenesis Evangelion series, Netflix version:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuLceA…  In some of the clips yo can see the subs, but they do not correspond to the actual dialogues, they have the same meaning but the subs have sense (meaning it's the correct construction in spoken italian).

Here, instead, for some suggestions as movies; tho I don't know how easily you can find them, if you have already seen them, or if may or may not like them. There a bit of everything, so watch out:

- the rest of Ghibli movies, if you haven't watch them all. Btw, during the Miyazaki marathon, did you watch The Castle of Cagliostro?
- You are Umasou (this is on yt right now, you can watch it there. Just search the title)
- by Mamoru Hosoda: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, Mirai (this one, I haven't watched it yet, but I'm pretty interested in it and hope it to be good)
- by Makoto Shinkai: Children Who Chase Lost Voices (now on yt ), The Garden of Words, Your Name, The Place Promised in Our Early Days
- by Satoshi Kon: Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress (again, this one, I haven't watched it yet, but I'm pretty interested in it and hope it to be good), Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika
- Iron Giant
- all the movies from Laika in case you haven't watched them yet: Coraline, ParaNorman, Boxtrolls, Kubo and Missing Link (haven't seen yet but I hope it to be good!)
- Anomalisa
- April and the Extraordinary World
- Epic (2013)
- Ernest & Celestine
- Hotarubi no mori e
- The Book of Life
- The Little Prince
- Summer days with Coo
- The Art of Happiness, and Cinderella the Cat
- The Last Unicorn
- The Illusionist, and The Triplets of Belleville
- Long Way North
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit (in the improbable case you haven't watched it yet P: )
- Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms
- Metropolis
- Piano Forest ((Piano no Mori, 2007: can't find the english title)
- Akira, and Steamboy
- Strange Magic
- Tekkonkinkreet
- The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl (again, this one, I haven't watched it yet, but I'm pretty interested in it and hope it to be good)
- by Cartoon Saloon: The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, The Breadwinner; if you like these, keep an eye for their future movies Wolfwalkers and My Father's Dragon
- best of Don Bluth works, like: The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Anastasia, (Rock-a-Doodle, Thumbelina, Titan A.E.)
- 9 (movie, 2009)
- from DreamWorks, if you improbably missed them: Megamind, Rise of the Guardians, The Prince of Egypt
- Arthur Christmas

Sorry for any title you may already know/ have watched! Hope you find something new and interesting to watch from this bunch of titles ^^

Love the Italian voices so far!

How lucky for me that I can only understand words, but not the text... the bad translation does not spoil the voice acting. :3 (However, it also inspires to learn it all back.)

yet another reply of yours that I will keep for eternity!

Quick reply for why Italian:
My mom is German, so I did not need that in school. Took English "special" year as secondary school's 0th year, and then we had to choose a second language: Italian, French, English or German.

That was the year when The Mummy came out (Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weiss), we had access to a movie canal that gave it in Italian. I fell in love with the language when looking at The Mummy in Italian.

Note: I have forgotten very much but at least it is not unfamiliar - there is always a couple words that are recognized. Peccato che non mi ricordo a molto...

Haven't read very carefully all the titles yet but what was caught as a familiar title (and a love shared): Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Your Name (well, logic is a mess, but we appreciate this one anyway), Iron Giant, Coraline, Kubo, The Last Unicorn, half of Illusionist (love the animation), have Triplets of Belleville downloaded just no time yet, Strange Magic (we often quote that one with sis), Land Before Time, Anastasia, Thumbelina, Rise of Guardians, Prince of Egypt

I'd definitely recommend Watership Down, Dreamworks made a film about Joseph which turned out very similar to Prince of Egypt, then there is How to Train Your Dragon, Animals of Farthing Wood, and I have to admit... we really like Hercules and Mulan and The Emperor's New Groove from Disney, heh.

Thank you very much for the recommendations!

Wow, you know another language because of your mother! I always envy people that have parents from different states and therefore knows two languages because of family You're so lucky!
Oh the Mummy! I asked my parents to let me see it when it came out, but they didn't give me the permission XD Had to wait some years to finally watch it!
I know that there are italian channels in east europe states (east for me), and some even are recievedin north africa states too; it's so strange to me, here before recent times we only had very few with foreign languages, mostly just english movies.
Oh, it seems to me that you remember enough, just 'non mi ricordo molto', without the 'a' ^^

I studied french in our middle school, but I pratically forgot everything, je ne se pas parler français at all I honesty know more of latin since I studied it for five years (and does not have all those strange accents which nobody never explained me how to use )

I saw all you mentione except for Animals of Farthing Wood, I'll search for it (:
Hercules and Mulan have a fantastic style, the characterisation is so peculiar <3 Emperor too, is a story pretty different from classic Disney, and terribly funny.

Anytime! if you want more, I am here ^^

It's lucky, my current job is because of that language.

Don't really know much about those channels today, there are soooo many internet posibilities, they are almost useless now.

My sister studied French - she hated it... but now she finished university and was taught Swedish (German and English are practically a must, she has those too.) She is now a translator looking for a job.

....I will definitely ask you when we are in need of a movie.  ;D

Multi- language knowledge is an essential and requested skill in work today, in many fields too. I'm sure it will be helpful when you'll search for a new working place

And, speaking of internet, it means you can read articles or books, follow channels or watch videos in different languages, more than average people. So, again, you're pretty lucky

I wish her good luck then, to find a job she likes ^^
Why swedish, tho?

CyanilurusJubatus In reply to 42Ly [2019-09-24 16:01:57 +0000 UTC]

Little sister here! I choose Swedish because I didn't want to learn a language I already know more or less but I wanted one where my already existing knowledge is helpful. Scandinavian languages are pretty similar to a mixture of English and German. Swedish is spoken by the most people out of the three scandinavian languages (Danish Norvegian and Swedish) that are taught at the university so I choose that one.

It's a wise choice you made! especially since you say it's the most spoken one of the scandinavian group.
Do you use it for work too?  (:
