Description Entry for LeilaAscariz 's contest,Β ART CONTEST- All media welcome!(Deadline Aug-15th)

I chose to draw a specific scene from LeilaAscariz's story, Reign of Winter, where the heroines have a peculiar fight with a spriggan into a kitchen (Reign of Winter CHAPTER 28 ). I found the whole thing quite jolly, therefore I decided to represent it for the contest. At the end, it's just an excuse to draw this, 'cause why not?Β

Few notes: I took some liberties in the drawing.
The spriggan is entirely an invention of mine, based on sources from the web, so any errors is my own fault. Kileanna's powers are depicted as real magic, when in reality she does more like a mental thing, but it was difficult to well represent it, so this. This style is because I thought it was fun, and realism wouldn't help me anyway. The kitchen (if I'm correct) is into a ice-made castle, so technically it should made of ice too; but, honestly, a kitchen should be warmer than ice, therefore bricks? anyway, since it's all b/w you can imagine that it's ice. And finally, the battle doesn't happen exactly like this, but I wanted to put on the scene as many as possible characters.

All characters are from LeilaAscariz 's story

There is so much energy coming from this, you can even see it in the thumbnail. Wonderful job with the textures on the columns as well.

I love the sense of movement in this a lot. There's also a lot of really fun details going on. Also barefoot in a kitchen seems like a bad idea.

I didn't think about adding a pair of shoes, at all! Indeed, it's a pretty bad idea, now that you mention it P:
I'm happy to hear that it has some sense of movement, I was afrait it was a bit oo static (:

It deosn't feel static at all.

And hey, hobbits never wear shoes so maybe it's fine.

This is just amazing, the amount of work in the details and small work is just utterly amazing, it gives your eyes always something to spot, something I enjoy thoroughly!

There's also a ton of personality in the human characters, something I've come to expect of you and something that inspired me greatly!

L, you made this look amazing and I hope you're enjoying life with drawing again

Wow, thanks a lot for this comment!
I'm so glad that an idea of personality might show through the drawing, wasn't sure that I was able to depict any ^^'' But if you say that at least a bit is visible, it makes me so happy

I didn't answer yesterday because I was going to bed, but this is truly amazing! That you chose to take a scene from the actual story is amazing, and I love the style you chose to illustrate it. It's a funny part, and the style reinforces that sensation. Argentea's face is priceless! " What have you done to me, mischievous little elf?"

As someone who has worked as a cook, I love the fact that the Spriggan has most of his fingers wrapped. He must be a leftie, because I always got my offhand hurt and I have many scars to attest)

I believe that bricks are right. Even if the ice palace is somewhat magic I believe that ice should melt to a point. There is magic unmelting ice, but I cannot figure out how expensive would be to enchant a whole palace. The temperature inside the palace is comfortable, so maybe everything is enchanted (if not, the walls would sweat), but I believe that bricks make sense anyway.

Thanks for an amazing entry! Good luck!

Btw, did you read the whole story or at least a big chunk? Thanks for that too!

It's okay, and actually better that you went to bed
I'm glad that you like the style, and the scene in general.

You worked as a chef?still do? So cool anyway, I always find amazing persons that do so ^^ My big sis like to cook a lot, she too always has many cuts or burns on her fingers.
And yes, he's leftie, but I realised it only after haing finished to draw him XD Though lefties can be more problematic to fight, if you're only used to fight right handed persons (:

I'll have to trust you, I've never been a pathfinder player, and only read few books of the Dragonlance. Happy to hear that my reasoning wasn't too bad!

Yes, I read all the chapters you published till now, since I'm trying to cleaning my notification box and your texts were one of the firsts. Actually I didn't think I would be able to finish it so soon, and since I managed to make it before the contest end I thought to give it a try, even if you already have really awesome entries. I would have liked to read about the other characters of the contest too, but maybe the appear later in the story? They would have been interesting to draw too, but, since the time, I didn't want to portrait any misrepresenting them.
In the story, I also liked when the group met the crows guardian (chapter29) and the witchΒ NazhenaΒ (chapter 52?).

If I may say, while reading the chapters I noticed that you sometimes forget to say some things, generally small ones. Like, what happened to Nadya's dogs after the encounter with the troll (chapter 25) or what's the symbol that Kileanna draw on Nadya fronthead when she chooses her to go to the castle of the witch (while, previously, you described how the symbols of the other members look like). I know that these are little things, so sorry for point at them, I just was curious to know why. I now that the story its from a campaign you played, so mabe these are futile details.

Thanks for the feedback! It helps me to notice which things weren't clear enough!

The symbol was the same that was given to Cat back in time. There are 3 symbols: morning, midnight and sun. They are assigned to 3 specific people, so Nadya got the mark of the Red Sun, Cat of the Black Midnight and Argentea Bright morning.

The dogs were left out in the kennels until they left again.

And about Blonde who was left out, I really wanted to explain what was up with him, but my players refused to change how we did things so it was left as a mystery

42Ly In reply to LeilaAscariz [2018-09-05 16:05:52 +0000 UTC]

I should have written my comment under the chapters; but I wanted to finish reading them all, and the I noticed there was tie to enter the contest too.. so nothing, at the end. My bad. Next times, I'll do better.

Thanks for these clarifications (:

I'm curious, since you says this campain is now conlused, how do you remember what happened? do you have any records?Β

I have the original adventure path, but there were a lot of changes that I just remember because I have a strangely good memory for non daily things despite I am really oblivious!
My bf, who was the GM, also remembers things.

Yhe dialogues, though, are mostly made up combining parts that I remember with excerpts from ingame conversations that happened in different moments (as conversations tended to be lengthy and a bit random at times) and stuff that I make up and believe that suits the characters.

Well, at the end it's also your story so you can totally decide dialogues and such kind of things ^^

Speaking of D&D, I've no own esperiences (the closer thing I have ever done is a series of games called Munchkin); but I found some funny examples on yt, like The Adventure Zone (its fans are crazy, it's incredible what they can do XD), Puffin Forest orΒ Dingo Doodles (which I really hope will make more).
If you don't now them maybe you can take a look at some of their related videos, they're pretty funny (:

Oh, I have played Munchkin, it's lots of fun! Though it has little to do with dnd, even if it parodies it.

I have to check out that videos!

It is, indeed (: And you're right, it has little to do with it ^^''
What set(s) have you played?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LeilaAscariz In reply to 42Ly [2018-09-10 14:02:58 +0000 UTC]

I think it was the basic set. It belonged to a friend of mine who always cheated, mocked people when he won and got annoyed when he didn't win, so though I liked the game I stopped playing it soon because it was quitting the game or quitting my friendship with that guy XD

42Ly In reply to LeilaAscariz [2018-09-17 17:16:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's doesn't make you enjoy a play with such companion :/

Tho it's a pity, the decks are funny with their cards, and can create ilarious situations. Like, once we played with the vampire/supernatural set, and I managed to summon something like more than 10 monsters, thanks to a series of lucky coincidences My target was my big sis boyfriend who was winning, but it was impossible to reach, and so at the end I just use the cards to kill my big sis instead; pointless, since he won in the next turn anyway. But it was too spectaculair to not try it XD

LeilaAscariz In reply to 42Ly [2018-09-19 14:33:31 +0000 UTC]

I think the vampires one was based on World of Darkness RPGs. It would be cool to play it!

42Ly In reply to LeilaAscariz [2018-09-20 23:51:20 +0000 UTC]

If you can, try as may sets as possible. They're all pretty fun in their own way, and create ilarious sitiation (: The last one I managed to play was the set based onto adventure time, and it had been an amusing esperience.
