I haven't heard about this story before. Is it from Japanese folklore or modern fictions (like in manga, movies, etc)??
The story is quite interesting and rare.
Anyway, I really like how you draw kitsune in traditional style like on those fox masks. Beautiful artwork!

Thank you so much  This is a story from 1929 (Showa:昭和 Era), so it is still new.So, it seems that the literature is relatively left.

This is not a folklore, left by "Shigeno" and its followers. It is described in the materials of Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto.
A lot of anecdotes of "Inari" other than "Shirataka" are also described. Shrine was dedicated to "Shirataka" There are (probably small) as well.
Material: Fushimi-Inari Taisha, Chief Administrative Officer.

I think I find the books which have collected this story. It's from a research about Japanese belief in modern era by Anne Bouchy (French author). Here are two books which I found the story.
- Les Oracles de Shirataka
- 神と人の はざまに生きる—近代都市の女性巫者 in Cahiers d'Extrême-Asie vol.16
Really cool one.

Great!! I didn't think such a book was published.
You also found it well.XXDD
I imagined and drew a picture from a book called "Reinou-Doubutsukan/Kamon-Nanami author "-『霊能動物館/家門七海 著』

Her book also, you might like.XD There are many stories about animal spirits and Gods, Spirit and Soul.

Talk about impactful imagery... gosh, the texture and the stark contrast of color schemes makes this composition so wonderful...
Also, what a bittersweet tale ;-; the Shigeno is a brief, sparkling moment in the Shirataka's life...

43MIO In reply to Leporidetum [2019-06-10 10:27:11 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. right. It's a moment of human life. When compared to the life of "Shirataka" ...
However, the husband of "Shigeno" killed is also pity ....
