D, Very, very nice icons! I bet the the young whipersnappers today would'nt even know what a 5 1/4" floppy is! I remember my first dream computer was a Sears Laser 8088 4.7 Mhz with dual 5 1/4" and a single-sided floppies, 64K of RAM, an amber colored monochrome monitor, and a list list price of $2,200! No hard drive mind you.

I grew up to be a serious gammer, but as a kid, I loved playing Pong. Here's what was hot in my time as a kid:

1976
Many home video games released, including Coleco's Telstar Pong. My first TV game.
Fairchild releases Fairchild Channel F, first home console with interchangeable game cartridges.
Exidy releases Death Race arcade game. Gain points by running over people.
Atari sold to Warner Communications.
Steve Wozniak develops Apple computer.
Wozniak and former Atari employee Steve Jobs found Apple Computer company

My first was a Packard Bell, and I can't remember any specs on it accept that it had only the 3.5 and 5.25 floppy drives. I hated those big floppies because they really were floppy!!

Here's a blast from the past for me: In 1974 I went to work for Data General. They were producing mag tape office computers but were delving into the "minicomputer." I eventually tested power supplies for the Eclipse, Nova, and SuperNova line of LCD's. LCD at DG was short for "Low Cost Display." I remember when the developers had set up their first computer they had designed with "sound." Everyone just stopped in their tracks and had to listen to the very digitalized sounding "notes" that were programmed to play a simple song. I recall the designers telling us that someday it would be very concievable to see just about every home in the world with a computer in it. I remember thinking back then, "I'll believe it when I see it!"

And so it goes...

Yeah, I suppose we are. Sometimes I feel I'm too old to sit here and make pretty pictures. That's a nice computing set-up you've been trying to link. All you do is right click, copy shortcut, paste into address line, and remove the [ /img ] part of the address. Looks like an true old school system! - Web

Remove the img tag? I was adding one in at the end of it! Is it my imagination or are there several ways to insert pics, links, emoticons into different websites? I can't keep them all straight! LOL! Sheesh!

Thanks, Web!
PS yeah those old Data General comps are now considered historically significant material to teach incoming computer science students! Heh!
