Description Witch's Night Out-1978:

Witch's Night Out was a Halloween special that aired on TV for years, it starred the voice of Gilda Radner as the witch. The basic premise is a couple of kids who are upset over not scaring anyone with their Halloween costumes wish they could be real monsters, she appears (by breaking through a window) and turns them into monsters, while at a Halloween party, they scare everyone who in turn all run out of the house and in the stampede the witch looses her magic wand (that she used to change the kids into monsters and is the only thing that can undo the spell), at the end they get turned back and she changes everyone who was at the party into monsters and they have a party. This was one of my favorite cartoons to watch on Halloween when I was a kid and still love to watch it today.

All I know about John Leach is he has a daughter that did the voice of Tender and he was married to Gene Rankin . The two did this one and Gift of Winter together. I'm always close but two steps away. I met a guy that did bg's on witch's Night Out but he has know idea where he is. Well . one day I guess. . Oh and the voice of small as well has know idea only that he i in L.A. and has a art studio there.

Thank you, glad you liked it, same here I try to watch this as often as I can, and I hadn't looked into the director, did he leave the business or is he still working? This is defiantly one of my favorite all time Halloween themed animated features, this along with the new misadventures of ichabod crane, Garfield's halloween adventure,Raggedy Ann & Andy - The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile, and it's the great pumpkin charlie brown.

Oh My God!! I love this!
I did a drawing of the Gilda Radner Witch for my blog two years ago as part of my Halloween Countdown. I have WNO on VHS, and it's one of my favorite things to watch during October.

Oh my gosh. Thank you so, so much. I had only the vaguest memories of this cartoon from my childhood. I always wanted to know what it was, but I didn't even remember the title. I was beginning to think I had imagined it! Thank you for helping me put a name to it!

I liked it a lot when I saw the premier way back when. I also remember, it was on NBC, and there was some sort of pre-emption that took place right before WNO was to start. I tuned in a few minutes before the starting time(As I always did in those days) and found this un-scheduled news flash thing going on, and was worried that it would take up the entire WNO show. The Special Report or whatever it was took up like 5 or 10 minutes of WNO, and it finally started already in progress. I hadn't missed enough to spoil it all, but I never forgot that this happened. Did they ever show WNO again on NBC? I don't recall seeing it on the schedule the following Halloween. But I could be wrong.

This show was shown on TV and then later on cable till about the early 90's I believe, but the program was on the airwaves on Halloween but was probably played on different stations. Shame though, think they should bring it back
