Done in Jan 15 05...Please FULLVIEW, the preview piccy hurts....
Hours to complete: I lost count after forty, but half of those hours I spent staring at the piccy, yes, staring...
If you can't tell, Schokolade is a BOY ...
After all the toil, redos, crashes and nail biting, it is DONE! I can't tell how many times I was near tears with this piccy. This was a sketch that wasn't all that good but I wanted to push my crappy CG abilities on this one. And push myself that I did (and nearly smashed my stoopid laptop in the process). This is a 'farewell, summer' and an anniversary piccy of my first year I been in DA... which was four months ago... if I went into the detail that delayed the piccy, I would throw my laptop out of the window.
The piccy is of Schokolade again. I wanted to try some new stuff...err, so I did... I learned the valuable lessons of using different hues, the dodge tool and the burn tool, the pen tool (which is my love forever!), and the gradient tool. There were sooo many times I wanted to give up and rushed it but I decided not to, and I'm pretty happy I did! >_< Master LOVE! Wish I didn't it with a mouse though... I should've use my tablet more...

Done in .5 and .7 mm HB pencils, CGed in Photoshop 6 and 7....

You're right. the small version of the picture doesn't do it any justice. You must view this in full-view. I absolutely love the detail here. The shading came out great. I can tell you spent a long time on this, and it really paid off.

im not enough patient. anyway. its awesome - even more than that word.
and im really amazed by the realistic looking lips. The lineart is quite "anime", but the coloring make it look a lot more unique.
this should be a design for a videogame character or something.

nice colors! i really do like how you drew the hair...it's very detailed and style-istic. the colors are intense and the picture itself as a whole has extreme detail. the light shine was a good touch as well.

I do have a slight problem with the thumb of his left hand, it looks like he broken it somewhere along the lines
might want to be careful in the future

wow, this is really amazing! i usually don't comment much on this type of art, but your efforts really did pay off! i love love love the colours, very striking and well chosen. i'm also very impressed with the amount of detail put into it, and as such it looks even better in full view. great job!

this is very well done, i commend u.
Few things though
tecincal: i think her hand maybe a fraction of an inch too thin...this is however anime, so u can get away with it if thats yr overall style. The overall muscular tone is excelent as well as shading, i think though that the shoulder might be a little off, it apperes a little high, but u may simply be missing a shadow line due to the back glare of the light. Again we're talking nit-picky fraction of an inch, here.
Overall pic: i really like this one, though i'm not so sure about that stark green backround. it works, i'm just not sure if another shade or a totally different color migth work even better. take a chance and experiment! ^^ Tis yr luck, with digital.....

I love the pose the character has.. and that hair is marvelous = I try to style mine like that, but man. never seems to fully work. something seems a little odd with the arm - probably the angle presented.. but it's still beautiful. those sunbeams are very amazing against the character.

The problem with my work is that I can never work on something longer than one day. I congratulate you on being able to do this! You may think it is easy but for some people, itβs really really hard to concentrate and be so dedicated to one piece.

I really love this picture, everything from the color to the attention to detail....however it doesn't look like boy. Something about the eyes and the lips give it a feminine appeal.

I know I may stick with stereotyped look of male characters but what I think that makes people mistaken Schokolade being girl is his lips. It looks like he wears lipstick, even I know that there're some guy with pinkish or kind of reddish lip but I think the difference of the color of the skin on face and lips is too much. That's just my opinion anyway, not really a critique.
By the way, I feel his eye (the one on our left side) seems to tilt down too much. If I try to draw a skull from the way his left eye is positioning I think the cheekbone maybe missing and the eye ball is slipping lower than the place it should be. Maybe it's just me...
