WAR CRIPPLES , a pic by Otto Dix.
Man #1 - pegleg far too short, causing him to walk in a sitting position. One arm ends in a hook, to hold a cigarette. Arm and head palsied (psychological ? Neurological ?).
Man #2 - Two peglegs Face mutilated.
Man#3 - No legs. Maybe no arms. Maybe No eyes. In wheelchair, smoking a cigarette. Pushed by
Man #4 - Seems normal, BUT outlines are of mechanical parts under army outfit.
If any detalls are in error, it's because I do not have the pic for reference, just memory. Pics lost when older laptop went poopoo.

I am unsure if the title itself is suppose to be ironic to the drawing, as they don't seem very peaceful. They hold human qualities, but it looks as if the human inside them have gone away.. consumed by war and they're now just empty vessels for war itself... kinda being a bit ironic to the title "We Are Men of Peace". Reminds me of World War 1 illustrations in which (a great majority of the time) the illustrations by soldiers would hold gruesome and dark messages, showing the after effect of war and the devastating result it had on the soldier both mentally and/or physically. Like I said before it looks as if in this piece the men have fallen victims of war and are no longer human (thus the reason why their face no longer holds any very human like qualities and look more demonic/mask-like). The trenches (if they are) are blended and made into almost a maze that cannot be escaped from, and the fact that the soldiers are being disintegrated away (like the smoke arising from the ground) kinda makes me think that they themselves have become a part of the battlefield (perhaps they're fallen soldiers...). Overall, very intriguing piece, lovely job, and congrats on the Daily Deviation!

You can feel the mass of the characters and the structure below them. While an abstract, you can also almost feel the texture around the character's head of the smoke/spirit arising from them.ย

Absolutely ace! The amount of detail that you've managed to capture with your brushstrokes is just to the right degree to give an impression without causing clutter, and the greyscale perfectly accentuates the sombre mood. As well, I really enjoy what you did with the eye sockets and jawline, showing the dilapidated muscle- evidently not only the enemies of these two were damaged by their conflict.
Any road, I am very impressed! Congratulations on the Daily Deviation- your concept is just brill, and you definitely deserve it!
